Kerry Pays Tribute to Fellow Veterans
WASHINGTON - John Kerry (news - web sites) paid a solemn early morning visit to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Monday, offering a quiet Memorial Day counterpoint to President Bush (news - web sites)'s tribute to the fallen across the Potomac River at Arlington National Cemetery.

On a cool, misty morning, Kerry slowed walked along the black granite wedge, pausing to seek out a few names of significance to him.

Kerry visited the wall with the family of William Bronson of Gardner, Mass. Bronson died in 1976 from a seizure related to a head wound he suffered in 1968 during combat in Vietnam.

The Democratic presidential candidate worked with Bronson's family and the Navy to have Bronson's name added to the wall.

1. Can't wait to see more pics on tv. Kerry is so damn "Presidential"!
This was probably a very moving tribute at the Wall. I'm so proud to see Kerry going for the veterans' votes. And Virginia - yessss!

-snip-

"Population shifts over the past few years have made Virginia more attractive to Democrats, campaign aides say. And the campaign hopes Kerry's war record will have particular appeal along the Virginia coast, with its heavy military presence."

2. Of course Kerry actually is a vet
and served his country with honor, unlike the alleged president. Glad Mr. Bronson's name was added to the wall. Well sad too, because the man had to pass on to get his name added, but glad that he's being honored. Maybe bush can get a man or two that he served with added to the wall. Oh wait, he never served in Viet Nam. What a friggin' joke. Senator Kerry seeks out names of men he served with, bush speaks as if he's a vet. Ah well, in November hopefully things will change for the better.

...so the Chimp could continue on being a coke head? Did he live? Did he die? Makes one wonder. Same goes for Cheney who got more draft deferments (five) than drunk driving arrests (three) which is a feat in itself.

...flight physical even after his politician daddy pulled strings to get him into a champaign Texas Air National Guard unit to avoid the draft and being sent to combat in Vietnam. And then Chimpy even got out of that early to go work on a congressional campaign for his daddies buddy. Hope that explains it for you?

He got his daddy to pull some strings and land him a cushy Air National Guard job so he could stay out of Vietnam. Lots of rich kids did that, and if he'd stopped there it might have been okay.

Bush was grounded in 1972 after skipping his physical. He later claimed that he did it because they wouldn't let him bring in his own doctor. Coincidentally, 1972 was the same year the military started drug testing.

He pulled a few more strings to get himself transferred to Alabama, where he blew off his duties to work on his daddy's friend's Senate campaign.

Bush was AWOL for about a year and a half. The commander of the disciplinary unit to which Bush was reassigned (after skipping duty too many times) doesn't remember ever seeing him show up. Bush claims to have discharged his duties completely, but can produce no paperwork to back him up apart from some paychecks and a record of a dentist appointment. During his run for the Gubernorship of Texas, several of his campaign staff were spotted lurking around the local military records office with a shredder.

Bush received an honorable discharge in 1973, with the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Almost all guardsmen make Captain by the time they're let go. Interpret that as you will.

Just over a year ago, Bush borrowed a flight suit, stuffed three pairs of socks down the front, hopped into a fighter, and did Tom Cruise impressions on the deck of an aircraft carrier that had been "strategically positioned" so the TV cameras wouldn't pick up the San Fransisco skyline.

Lots of people on this board have done a lot more research than me into this. Did I miss anything?

7. Just because your dad pulls strings to get you an honorable discharge
after you failed to appear for duty while you were grounded from flying for being a coked up drunk, doesn't mean you DESERVE the honorable discharge.

Could YOUR daddy have pulled that one off?
