Employees told us on Tuesday that pink slips were handed out to those from the research and development division. A Kodak spokesperson says the layoffs are part of an announcement the company made January of this year. Kodak announced plans to cut 12,000-15,000 jobs worldwide during the next three years. The company said the cuts were needed as it shifts to digital photography.

Chris Ashley, who learned that he no longer had his job, said he had enjoyed the past 19-years of service at the company. “There's a lot of disappointment today and you just gotta go on with life. That's what I'm going to do with myself. My family's been aware of it and I've got them psychologically ready for it and who knows... I may find a job here, maybe go south.”
