Judge Judy has a new case — in her own back yard

GREENWICH, Conn. — Judge Judy has a new case — in her back yard.
Judith Sheindlin of “Judge Judy” fame and her husband, Gerald Sheindlin, a former “People’s Court” television judge, are complaining to officials in wealthy Greenwich about a field one of their neighbors built for youth sports. They claim it was put up without permits and caused erosion that filled their swimming pool with mud.

The town ordered the neighbor, Martin Sands, to stop using the field or making improvements to his property without obtaining proper permits.
The order disappointed an eighth-grade girls’ lacrosse team that had planned to use the field behind Sands’ home. Parents argued that the need for a place to play is more important than technicalities such as permits.

“Maybe Judge Judy doesn’t even understand that there’s a shortage of fields,” parent Bill Bennett said.
The Sheindlins insisted Sands violated wetland laws and said it cost them $17,000 to clean the mud from the swimming pool.

“As the grandparents of 10 grandchildren who love sports, what we find most offensive is that the Sandses are basically telling children it’s OK to break the law if you have enough money to try to get what you want,” Judith Sheindlin said in a statement released by her publicist.

4. "...technicalites such as permits"?????
The mind boggles. But, this is Greenwich, where permits and use regulations are a source of amusement for all.
