Iacocca Throws His Support Behind Kerry |
|
Wilgoren again. I hate that bitch. SAN JOSE — Coming here to promote his plans for the new economy, Senator John Kerry got a lift today from an icon of the old, Lee A. Iacocca, former chairman of the Chrysler Corporation.
"The bottom line is simple: We need a new C.E.O. and a new president," Mr. Iacocca, an outspoken supporter of President Bush in the 2000 election, said as he introduced Mr. Kerry, the presumed Democratic presidential nominee, at San Jose State University.
"All of my best friends are Republicans, and they ask me, `Are you crazy or something? Why are you doing this?"' he added. "I tell them the world is changing, our country is changing, and we need a leader who will understand that change taking place." <snip>
Mr. Kerry praised Mr. Iacocca as "a man of common sense" and said that "the Chrysler minivan has been the vehicle of success in winning my elections." Nowadays, though, Mr. Kerry is ferried to and fro in black Chevrolet Suburbans belonging to the Secret Service.
Neither man mentioned that Chrysler has been, effectively, outsourced, and is now the German-owned DaimlerChrysler.http://www.nytimes.com/pages/politics/trail/index.html

"What's good for America is good for General Motors!"
Said by the owner of General Motors when he was nominated by Eisenhower for a government post.
It's frequently reversed by people trying to discredit wealthy business owners in government.

That corporate America owns the 2 major political parties, and when one or the other gets 'too extreme' in any direction, they will put their support behind whoever else is out there that will help them maintain the status quo ie, their own profits.
Lovely. 4 more years of Fuck the Little Guy.

5. When Iacocca supports you, you know you're doing something wrong |
|
1) Let us not forget Iacocca's ads bashing Gore as an environmental "extremist." Lee's a pillar of Reaganism; he has helped bring you the 60 hour work week, rising health insurance costs, and downsizing.
2) Presidents are not CEOs. This is a fucking democracy whose leader we are electing - we are not appointing the head of a corporation. Democracy is incompatible with the corporate model.
3) Kerry aides are "ebullient," are they? That speaks volumes about them.
