New Jerseyans raise nearly $400k to help Corzine win Dem control of Senate
http://www.politicsnj.com/

EAST BRUNSWICK, June 28 - For Jon S. Corzine, the pitch was familiar and, for once, so were the faces.

The state’s senior senator has been wearing two political hats for more than a year now, working nights -- and weekends and days off from the Senate -- as the chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, which recruits and helps finance Democratic candidates across the country.

Tonight, a day after he was in Connecticut to raise money and a day before a scheduled event in Texas, Corzine’s travels brought him to Exit 9 of the New Jersey Turnpike, for an event at the East Brunswick Hilton that netted the DSCC upwards of $400,000.

The fund-raiser, which was hosted by Gov. James E. McGreevey, U.S. Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg and Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-Ewing), the chairwoman of the state Democratic Party, was billed as a tribute to Corzine, who polls indicate is the most popular politician in the state.
