Dogs attacked with firework
http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/West/06/29/dog.abuse.fireworks.ap/index.html

"TULSA, Oklahoma (AP) -- Six puppies were killed, apparently by fireworks placed in their mouths, shortly after teenage boys were seen carrying Roman candles in a north Tulsa neighborhood.

Animal control officers said they were following leads Tuesday but had no suspects in Sunday night's attacks, during which one person told police they heard a puppy yelp.

An older dog, a 41/2-month-old black Labrador mix, suffered burns on her muzzle and hindquarters from apparently being used as a moving target for fireworks."

When your Republican Senator begins endorsing torture, this stuff is bound to happen.

Hey, it was probably a fraternity prank.

11. You're absolutely right about the serial killers, Rpannier
I remember reading a statistic that 94% of serial killers either set fires, tortured animals, or had major bedwetting problems while growing up. So when I read about a nine-year old caught killing animals, I thought, "They may have nipped a serial killer in the bud."

2. Good grief!
Just when you think you've heard it all. Maybe they got the idea from Bush's childhood "fun" activity, putting firecrackers in frogs' mouths and throwing them in the air. Whoopee! All this Compassionate Conservatism from these God-fearin' Republicans is truly inspiring. Speaking of God--may he help us all!

35. Thanks for clarifying
It makes me wonder (not to mention heartsick) about the true nature of this man who is leading us along the path to perdition. When people raise questions about the parents of the kids who did these horrible things to puppies--you know, where are the parents, what kind of parents are they, etc.?--I have to wonder about Bush's parents and what went wrong there...

I've lost the words necessary to express the disgust I feel for this reprehensible little man.

5. Future Murderers of America
Killing puppies is a solid indication of what society will get from those "kids" in the future. There has been a rash of animal cruelty cases this year.. I'm not sure why, but I suspect we are just becoming a more and more, brutal and rude society. When the main entertainment for children now appears to be violent games, music, movies, and music... it only makes sense they would want to entertain themselves the same way. Oh.. but I know I'll get replies here that violent entertainment doesn't cause violence in kids, regardless of the decades-long studies proving the link; Regardless of a multi-billion dollar media/advertising business designed SOLELY to change behavior and influence kids.

The puppy killers should rot in hell.. if it exists.

7. IIRC this is an indication of sociopathy
Killing animals is a serious sign. These teens need to be watched and monitored closely. People who will abuse a puppy or kitten will also abuse kids.

16. The point is the one
so eloquently made by Fahrenheit 911. I wish I could remember Moore's exact words, but the gist was that the "fish rots from the head." The more our leadership condones/justifies/ignores torture, the more we'll see in society.

The soldiers in Iraq were encouraged to torture and abuse prisoners by corrupt and evil leadership. The torture was defended by Sen. Inhofe (sp?) of Oklahoma. Boys in Oklahoma start torturing puppies.

If you don't think there's a connection, you should read the criminal studies about the failure to control urinating in public, vandalism and littering and how these things encourage a general trend of lawlessness and drug use. Clean up these blights, and you have a rapid decrease in crime overall.

It follows that if you endorse and excuse torture at the highest levels of the government, you'll end up with boys blowing up puppies with fireworks.

Tolerate unremitting hate speech on radio and domination of the public discourse by rabid right wingers and you get George Bush and war for profiteering.

This is called cause and effect.

25. It's no Fraternity Prank where I went to school
This Senator has encouraged and condoned torture. He is one of the very, very very few who have.

I suspect he has done so because culturally this is acceptable behavior where he comes from; otherwise disgusted people will vote him out.

Condone torture and it happens. We see that in Iraq. We see that in Oklahoma.

If you condone this kind of behavior, I'd suggest therapy -- soon.

20. "Audio Therapy" and Sterilization...At A Minimum
I don't often resort to profanity because there's at least 10 better non-profane words you can use for every instance of vulgarity when you are writing, but this is one of those times when the profanity cometh.

What kind of sick, demented, damaged fuck would do something like this? How is a person still considered human who would do this to a defenseless dog or any other animal? I would almost be willing to look the other way for a minute in my opposition to capital punishment if people as disgusting and defective as those who did this would be the first ones to fry or get the needle. And before that, 24/7/365 "audio therapy" (as the Israelis call it) of puppies barking piped into their cells. Louder when they try to sleep and never, ever ceasing.

If the state of Oklahoma doesn't incarcerate the person or persons responsible for this for a long, long time and STERILIZE THEM to prevent the potential passing on of their viciously-defective, fucked-up genes, then Oklahoma is most definitely not O.K. in my book.

27. Here are a couple of articles about it.
http://www.kotv.com/main/home/stories.asp?whichpage=1&id=64618

The two surviving dogs were brought to the SPCA early Monday morning. Both are expected to recover. But shelter officials could do nothing for six puppies that were found dead with fireworks in their mouths and their mouths partially blown off.

The mother of the puppies escaped physical injury, but is clearly traumatized by having her litter killed. Volunteers say she's been searching for the pups since she was brought in.

The other abuse victim, a 4-month old lab mix is suffering from severe burns. Authorities believe she was deliberately set on fire.

Reward Offered In Tulsa Puppy Killings
Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at 8:25am

Investigators in Tulsa hope a one thousand dollar reward is enough to get those with information about the killings of six puppies to come forward. The pups were killed earlier this week, after someone put fireworks in their mouths and detonated them. Two older dogs were also injured after the suspects used them as moving targets, shot them and set them on fire. Those dogs are at the Tulsa Animal Shelter where they're expected to recover. -mg

I almost wish now that I lived in Tulsa. I'd find them. And nobody would have to pay me a dime.

40. TORTURE AND OTHER GAMES FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
This story is so sad. For the dogs, for everyone who sees these articles.

We really need to have much stronger laws against abuse - in any form. Against animals, against the elderly, against children, against women, against gays - it is all the same awful sickness.

Blowing up puppies - what a kick that must have been.

And may they rot in hell. If I had seen them I would have tried to kill them with my bare hands (and hopefully someone would have stopped me). But these kids should do serious time -

Any kid exhibiting this kind of callous disregard for suffering and an enjoyment in cruelty is a budding sociopath. These kids need to be found NOW and their parents should also be questioned about the kind of homes they are providing which breed these sicko future killers.

Note the article below... a dog more caring, compassionate, and "human" than those teenage thugs will ever understand.

Missing Toddler Found Guarded By Family Dog

Girl, Dog Disappeared From Family's Back Yard

POSTED: 11:25 am EDT June 30, 2004

BETHLEHEM, Ind. -- Some 90 people searched through the night for a missing 2-year old girl before she was found safe Wednesday morning with a family dog on an Ohio River bank.

Daisy Smith was found more than a mile from her home by a Clark County conservation officer taking part in a search that began after she and the dog disappeared from the family's back yard about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Conservation Officer Andy Crozier found the girl about 6:30 a.m. after following dog tracks that led him to the family's Labrador retriever at the site about 25 miles northeast of Louisville, Ky.

<snipping>

"This girl has a guardian angel," Spainhour said. "And it's the dog. He stayed with her throughout the night, and in the end he led us to her."

They need to hunt down the fuckers who did this, pop some firecrackers in their mouths and do the same to them... Symbolic retribution. I don't usually advocate the death penatly, but whoever did this probably won't contribute much to society anyway, so I say fry 'em.

BTW, what is PETA doing about this, I mean PETA could really increase their credibility by going after this stuff instead of trying to get Slaughterville to change thier name...
