Unknown Iraqi group threatens al-Zarqawi
BEIJING, July.7 (Xinhuanet) -- An unknown Iraqi group has threatened to kill Abu Musab al-Zarqawi if he and his followers don't leave Iraq immediately.

An unknown Iraqi group called the Salvation Movement have warned extremist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and his followers that they will be killed if they do not leave the country immediately, CRIENGLISH.com reported Wednesday.

The message was broadcast on the al-Arabiya television network.

A report on this is also included in this article...

An armed vigilante group also threatened to kill Abu Musab al-Zarqawi for insurgency attacks that have killed Iraqis, making the first internal threat against the Jordanian militant who recently warned Prime Minister Iyad Allawi that he is a target for assassination.

In a videotape sent to Al-Arabiya television, the previously unknown group, which called itself the “Salvation Movement” ordered al-Zarqawi to leave the country and questioned how he could justify the killing of civilians and his threats to assassinate Mr Allawi.
---cut---
“He must leave Iraq immediately, he and his followers and everyone who gives shelter to him and his criminal actions,” he said, speaking in an Iraqi accent.

“We swear to Allah that we have started preparing ... to capture him and his allies or kill them and present them as gift to our people. This is the last warning. If you don’t stop, we will do to you what the coalition forces have failed to do.”

2. Unknown group?
I bet they're known to Negroponte.

This sounds much like the tactics of the rightwing death squads he created in Central America.

Sure didn't take him long.

9. Negroponte wants al Zarqawi alive.
The only justification for a continued U.S. presence in Iraq is continued instability. It is in the best interests of the imperialists that al Zarqawi is still alive causing havoc. The Iraqis probably realize that he and his followers are a cancer in their country, and their only hope is to get rid of him.

12. Phoenix Rising
The Prospect has learned that part of a secret $3 billion in new funds—tucked away in the $87 billion Iraq appropriation that Congress approved in early November—will go toward the creation of a paramilitary unit manned by militiamen associated with former Iraqi exile groups. Experts say it could lead to a wave of extrajudicial killings, not only of armed rebels but of nationalists, other opponents of the U.S. occupation and thousands of civilian Baathists—up to 120,000 of the estimated 2.5 million former Baath Party members in Iraq.

"They're clearly cooking up joint teams to do Phoenix-like things, like they did in Vietnam," says Vincent Cannistraro, former CIA chief of counterterrorism. Ironically, he says, the U.S. forces in Iraq are working with key members of Saddam Hussein's now-defunct intelligence agency to set the program in motion. "They're setting up little teams of Seals and Special Forces with teams of Iraqis, working with people who were former senior Iraqi intelligence people, to do these things," Cannistraro says.

Well known and planned.

13. This is `Alawi's death squad
Probably Negroponte's idea, but `Alawi has been using them to blow things up in Iraq (schoolbus, movie theatre, etc) for years.

It's probably the NeoCons, who else would be that lame?

Another cover-up to murder innocent Iraqis.

17. While the suicide bombings are repellent
and I would like no more than to have Iraq left to Iraqis to sort out, this action will only increase the chaos.

Ordinary civilians will still be caught in the middle.
