Blantyre - More than one million Malawians face another year of hunger after drought and flooding wrought havoc in the southern African country's farming sector, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) said on Wednesday.
The aid body said it would begin providing food aid to about 250 000 people in August under a programme expected to peak in early 2005 with more than one million beneficiaries.
The agency said it had completed a 20-month railway repair and improvement programme to allow large quantities of food aid to be transported without interruption into Malawi from Mozambique.
