Michael Moore's War (He got the cover of this week's TIME magazine)
Edited on Thu Jul-08-04 02:07 AM by Wonk
"...We may come to look back on its hugely successful first week the way we now think of the televised presidential debate between John Kennedy and Richard Nixon, as a moment when we grasped for the first time the potential of a mass medium — in this case, movies — to affect American politics in new ways."
— The World According to Michael by Richard Corliss
Time Magazine Cover Story, July 12, 2004 issue

1. That is a wonderful historical analogy Corliss made --
and I hope a true one! I'm having a hard time keeping reality checked lately, after the way "F911" hit, the phenomenal sales of Bill Clinton's book, and our new dynamo of a ticket, introduced to the country, with those loving, beautiful families, in the green, Pennsylvania countryside. When you think about it, the three events follow each other in an interesting way. Michael Moore hits the country with a hard dose of reality, a different way of looking at George W. Bush; sales of Clinton's book prove to the country that a large number of Americans never bought into the right-wing/media attack machine that tried unrelentlessly to ruin him in the eyes of the public; and, finally, a fresh new choice is presented to the country.

3. Very powerful photo: he's presenting a coffin flag to us all
I hadn't see a large shot of it before.

4. This is great publicity
for maybe more to go see the move. Kudos to Time! By the way - if you didn't catch The Daily Show last night (should be re-run today) - the spoof with Michael Moore was beyond hillarious.
