WASHINGTON - A steady stream of intelligence, including nuggets from militant-linked Web sites, indicates al-Qaida wants to attack the United States to disrupt the upcoming elections, federal officials said Thursday.

But the chairman of the new federal Election Assistance Commission complained Thursday that he was rebuffed when he wrote to Ridge seeking to discuss election security issues, including how to handle rescheduling the election if it were to be disrupted by an attack.

7. I don't know about LIHOP

but I know it is PROFOUNDLY wrong, tactically, strategically, and morally, to tell our enemy they have the ability to disrupt a process that not even a civil war could. Those on the Right complain about how Moore's dissent is somehow aiding the enemy yet they are on the fear-bandwagon saying to the world that our political infrastructure is so fragile we couldn't deal with a bad week in Israel.

but Republicans took every advantage of this to win! Using the logic of Tom Goebbels Ridge, the election of Reagan and a Republican Senate was nothing but a terroristic disruption. Perhaps it would have been more patriotic if Carter delayed those elections until immediately after the hostages were released. ;)
