N.J. to Register Gay Couples in New Law
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey's new domestic-partner law takes effect Saturday, allowing gay partners to make medical decisions for each other and file joint state tax returns.

The law, signed by Gov. James E. McGreevey in January, does not legalize gay marriage and offers far fewer rights than those given to heterosexual married couples. But many same-sex partners are clearly pleased.

``This is the next step on our way to full recognition of marriage rights,'' said Marty Finkle, a gay man who helped fight for the legislation.

McGreevey called the law a victory for social justice.

1. I know this is a bit off topic, but
does anyone else get creeped out by the government having a "registery" of anything that is considered not part of the norm? I dunno, call me paranoid but I just wonder sometimes how far away they are from taking a registry and making people sew pink triangles on their clothing...

3. I think he is suggesting they want to
register LGBT people so that they can be identified for future sinister purposes.
