NY's Bloomberg to Entertain Gay, Pro-Choice Groups (During RNC Convention)
NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York's Republican Mayor Michael Bloomberg will throw three lavish parties during this summer's Republican National Convention, but two of his soirees are for groups whose positions President Bush opposes.

The billionaire-turned-politician will entertain a group in favor of a woman's right to choose abortion and a group of gay Republicans who have yet to endorse Bush for re-election.

Bloomberg, known for his extravagant affairs, will also host a party for Republican Hispanics at the mayor's official residence, Gracie Mansion.

snip.......

Bloomberg's spokesman Ed Skyler said the mayor's choices were in keeping with his position as "an outspoken advocate of a woman's right to choose and gay rights."

1. He used to be a Dem, didn't he?
Until he jumped on the Rudy bandwagon, that is.

The Log Cabin Republicans is one of them, so they might side with us on some issues but they're still Republican voters.

7. Maybe Bush will pretend to accept these groups and then....
abandon them if elected (like he did in 2000).

9. "a woman's right to choose abortion"?!

I thought it was a woman's right to choose her family planning options. Which include pre, peri, and post-natal care, contraception, reproductive health, infant health, etc.

Many years ago the press began labeling women's reproductive health clinics as abortion clinics if even one abortion was performed in them. They began labeling OB/GYN doctors as abortion doctors.

The debate became one of abortion instead of family planning and women's health. Reporting such as this, using inflammatory words such as these has spun the debate far from the issues originally presented.

I somehow expected more from Reuters.

I have in years past, had first hand experience in working with Log Cabin Republicans; some of them are as vitriolically conservative as the radical right now in office. Their only difference from bush and co. is their sexual orientation.

:(

10. He's making sure he has an escape route from the Wingnuts.
Instead of rearrainging deck chairs, he already has his eye on which lifeboat to jump into. His is named Lifeboat #1, The Rockefeller Republican. He's getting the cover he needs from having the little party, albeit away from the convention, from the Wingnuts, and he still saves face with New Yorkers, by seeming open-minded.

Look for this bizzare behavior among many Wignuts, as it will accelerate towards the election, as they see their fellow scum bags dancing on the deck of a sinking ship.

As far as the LCR, what can you say? "Knock before entering" would be appropriate as the closeted Wingnuts will be there, in the reverse role of being serviced by their LCR paramours.
