6 pounds legal in Oregon
New bill would make it legal to hold up to 6 pounds of marijuana in Oregon.

4. The problem, though
is finding a doctor that will write a script for it...

"And many in law enforcement say it would create a financial incentive for government to get people hooked on what they insist is a gateway drug.

GMFAO!

8. Not so hard... Doctors can be pro-pot, and in Oakland they
have their own pro-pot specialized clinics. With political will anything is possible.

5. Oregon leads the US in compassion
Been like that for some time. For seventeen years pot was legal in Alaska. People could have one ounce in possession and four ounces per household member in the home or four plants per household member. Bush 1 demanded Alaska change their laws or be cut off of all federal funding. Alaska changed their laws to re-criminalize it but an Alaska Supreme Court ruling still stands that makes it basically legal in the eyes of the state. What the ruling said was our right to privacy was more important than any harm created from smoking pot so police would not be allowed search warrants for the purpose of marijuana. That Supreme Court ruling has not been overturned.

13. Not anymore
The extreme right holds our legislature hostage. What you say is true up until 1990 or so.

Alaska is more progressive than Oregon now. Really.

6. Um, Bo
Could you provide a working link that shows I could hold six pounds of pot?

Methinks you are not being honest here.

11. Believe me, I live in Oregon, this story is bullshit
There is no such bill. The Fox "news" story lists no valid link to such a "bill".

Cut off your cable. You'll be much better off.

15. Thanks for posting a real link
The Fox "news" story makes it sound like it is currently legal to possess six pounds of weed. I can assure you this is not the case.

There is no bill. According to Reuters, a much more reliable source, initiative petitioners have a marginally enough signatures to get it on the November ballot.

Notice that the link (yours) is over a week old. The ballot measure, IF enough signatures are verified, will qualify and be voted on in the general election ending November 2. In Oregon we vote by mail, so we get our ballots in mid-October.

The original poster, well whatever.

Thanks again, leQ
