US press questions Bush's Iraq war justification
The United States press has criticised US President George W Bush's reasoning for going to war with Iraq in light of a Senate probe into CIA failures in pre-war Iraq intelligence.

"Sadly, the investigation stopped without assessing how President Bush had used the incompetent intelligence reports to justify war," The New York Times said in an editorial on Saturday.

That matter will be addressed in a second part of the Senate report on the Bush Administration's use of intelligence to reach the decision to go to war.

Mr Bush's decision to go to war is a major issue ahead of the November 2 presidential election.

1. Why must we wait for the 2nd half of the report?

I believe I heard that the Rethugs are making us wait until after the election for the 2nd half of the Intelligence Report.

That is an outrage!! They are the ones that are always talking National Security!

It seems to me that unless and until we hear the 2nd half of the report we, the REAL people, can not make informed decisions about the Security Issues for this country. If the CIA is that bad, then the Congress needs to stay in session until they appropriate more funding over the summer. This is urgent.

16. The fact that it NEEDS a second part
is telling in itself.

A whole second part to a report.

Think about that.

7. Gee, so soon?
Man, sometimes I think these media morons are going to be surprised that the Beatles broke up, that's how quick to the draw they are. It's cover your ass time in the media, they know they've been whoring for the wrong side and they don't want to admit it. Never in all of their "criticisms" of the Iraq war do they mention their role in it. God, I hate the media almost as much as I hate Bush. In my perfect world, Bush is standing trial for war crimes along with Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Paula Zahn, Peter Jennings, Dan Rather, (Yes Dan Rather), Brit Hume, Joe Scarborough, and dozens of others. War criminals all.

12. Don't expect much from the mainstream press.
For them to truly press the case, they'd have to admit their complicity in the crimes of this administration. Unfortunately, that ain't likely.

13. Kill Saddam, Vol. 2
The sequel is delayed because ... We can't vote incompetent CIA analysts out of office, and the Rethugs want to get the maximum voter mileage out of painting Georgie Boy as the hapless victim of bad intelligence.

Flashback a couple of years, when our spineless scrotumless excuse for a mass media apparently just assumed we were ALL driving around with "Support Our Troops" stickers on our asses caterwauling "God Bless The USA", and wouldn't buy their rags if they dared ask any tough questions.

NOW, the support levels have dropped below 50% for both the war and the warmonger, so they feel safe. They can do their jobs now and still satisfy that sacred bottom line. Aren't we lucky to have them?

Ladies and gentlemen, the noble guardians of the public interest! :puke:

14. Cowardly whores.
Most of the Mass Media should be ashamed but they aren't. They don't possess that level of conscience. As more info. surfaces they are being forced to report it because it will surface elsewhere and they will look like the fools that they are if they don't report at least the very basics of the foulness that permeates Amerika.

17. It's funny how the media now acts like they had no part in this...
Edited on Sun Jul-11-04 01:13 AM by Dr Fate
Apparently the "US Press" could not do a fifteen minute Google search BEFORE 800 plus boys went down.

Gee- I guess we are supposed to believe they were "fooled" into reporting all of Bush's lies as facts.

Mmm hmmm. Tell us one about the Three Bears...

The average DU has known this forever & a day.

19. TV news lost my attention four years ago.
I still read the hard copy of the L.A. Times, but the rest of the media lost my interest four years ago when they failed to tell the truth about the Bush coup.

Since then, I've been getting the news from internet sites even before it appears in the LA Times. It has been an amazing experience. I started reading a democratic website. It posted news that was not available anywhere else. I read skeptically -- couldn't believe my eyes. Guess what, practically everything on that site, no matter how outrageous it seemed, turned out to be true although it wasn't reported in the "mainstream" media. "Mainstream" media -- for shame! You've let down the country.
