Kerry TV ads outpace Bush's
"It was supposed to be 'poor John Kerry,' or 'poor Democrats, they'll be overwhelmed by a Bush money machine' " that would saturate 16 to 20 competitive states with TV ads, says Larry Sabato, director of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia.

USA TODAY obtained data collected by TNS Media Intelligence/Campaign Media Analysis Group, which tracks political ads. The data, covering 17 closely contested states from March 3 through June 26, show:

• The Kerry campaign's ads were shown 72,908 times, 3.1% more than the Bush-Cheney campaign's 70,688 showings.

• Political groups' ads were shown 56,627 times. All but 513 were ads by liberal, anti-Bush groups such as MoveOn PAC and The Media Fund. The others were by conservative groups.

Taken together, about 129,000 Kerry or anti-Bush ads were aired, 82% more than the Bush-Cheney total.

2. So Kerry hired better media buyers.
Just shows that he's more fiscally responsible.

4. The money dries up after the DNC convention
After that, Kerry-Edwards is limited to 75 million by the gubmint. Since the Restapo convention isn't until September, they won't have an "official" nominee and can spend unlimited amounts until the Shrub is nominated.

Kerry has to make inroads in the key states right now because the airwaves will be overrun by Bush ads after July 28th. This race is definitely NOT over and Kerry-Edwards will need all the support we can muster for it until November 2nd. This is NO time for slackers!

6. Totally agree - people, if thats true we ought to be polling much better
than we are. The real fight is just beginning. Never lose resolve until the prize is won for liberty. When the Convention comes, it will be real important to donate to the 527's and the DNC. Yes, the DNC.

5. WooooHooo!
NICE to see Kerry put my donations to work!

I know I've seen a LOT of Anybody But Bush and Kerry and Kerry/Edwards signs and bumperstickers around where I live and this is NOT a liberal state...

8. I've also noticed that Kerry's ads
Edited on Mon Jul-12-04 04:17 AM by Andromeda
are more polished and more impressive in their style and delivery than the Republican ads.

Bushes ads are more amateurish and typically negative, besides playing fast and loose with the truth.

9. Q: At what point do I stop giving to DNC and move to Moveon?
Tell me where and when my dollars will have the most impact.

Thank in advance.

Also, is there any chance that Kerry will skip the post-convention federal money and just go for it with donors instead?

I bet we could get him another $200 million.

10. Bush couldn't manage Harken, Texas or the White House...
Why would a campaign be any different?

They have millions but are no doubt wasting it, just like what he does everyday.
