Fury at anarchist convention threat - NY Daily News
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/211413p-182089c.html

July 11, 2004

Fringe elements are hoping to spark major disruptions at the Republican National Convention with a series of sneaky tricks - including fooling bomb-sniffing dogs on trains bound for Penn Station, the Daily News has learned.

Internet-using anarchists are telling would-be troublemakers to decoy specially trained Labrador retrievers with gunpowder or ammonium nitrate-laced tablets in a bid to halt trains or even spur the evacuation of Madison Square Garden.

Top cops are girding against the attempt to foil strong anti-terrorist strategies aimed at protecting conventiongoers - including President Bush - as well as peaceful protesters during the Aug. 30 to Sept. 2 GOP fete.

<snip>

So in addition to guarding against the most vile, organized and destructive of terrorists, Kelly and company have to combat a shadowy, loose-knit band of traveling troublemakers who spread their guides to disruption over the Internet.

Sounds like the NYPD is lining up their excuses for using gestapo tactics during the repug convention. Run the anarchists are coming, the anarchists are coming...

Edited on Mon Jul-12-04 07:13 AM by DoYouEverWonder
The Daily News publishes an article using very inflammatory language based on at the least, questionable information from a questionable source and you're worried about some kid in a chatroom having fantasies?

26. Some Have Thought For Awhile That This Country Is Headed For A
culture war that will end in revolution.

Reason no longer seems to work with the Republicans.

Trying to negotiate with them seems to only encourage more excess.

Hence, they have become a rogue party that will eventually have to be dealt with.

Therein lies your revolution.

31. You Can Disagree With The Premise All You Desire - Actions Speak
- Illegal war in Iraq
- Systematic destruction of the environment
- Policies designed to undermine and eliminate the middle class
- Disenfranchisement of large classes of Americans
- Bankrupting the Federal Government through profligate spending

Need anyone say more?

The Republicans have become a rogue element and a cancer on our society.

They will have be dealt with one way or another.

If that happens to be revolution then so be it.

Some people like myself have nothing left to lose.

these punks deserve to get their ass beat by the cops.

Peaceful demonstrators: Rock on!

Anarchist idiots: Fuck off and stay out of my city.

These morons are not Democrats, and I they are making things more dangerous. They are not welcome.

<snip>
The dog decoy ploy is the among most insidious in the fringe groups' bag of tricks - which includes throwing marbles under the hooves of police horses and using slingshots to pelt the animals.
<snip>

10. Did you know that it was the Chicago police that used violence in 1968?
Prior to the 1968 Democratic convention, the capitalist media was running stories planted by the Daley machine about possible violence from antiwar demonstrators. As it turned out, the only violence was the Gestapo tactics of the Chicago police as it attacked people that had assembled peacefully to register their opposition to the war.

I think what the see in here is a replay of the old Chicago playbook by the GOP.

disinformation when you see it?

This story is a crock of shit. There are no named suspects. No one has been caught or charged with making these plans. There is no mention even of what website this was found on.

Yet, in the meantime folks like you, take the story at face value and get all worked up. That's exactly what they want you to do.

16. So the problem here seems to be people going to a
shooting range and taking the train home, right? That's the bulk of the article. Well, hell, that's simple, then. Close down all shooting ranges, pick up all guns and ammo, and arrest all those involved in the operation of those ranges and the sales and distribution of ammo and guns.

The anarchists are the NRA, apparently. Hey, NYC, bust a few heads!

Problem solved. Next?

The techniques are time-proven. Just label all dissenters as "terrorists," "anarchists," or "vandals" and you have a ready-made reason for stifling all dissent. Sow fear and lead up to the event with a plethora of well-timed stories about how 'evil and 'illegal' those terrible demonstrators are ... and how they threaten the vital life juices of God-fearing Amurikans.

Sounds like a merry band to me!
