Blair faces Iraq storm ..
...

Interesting article (very cautious and objective)

http://www.csmonitor.com/2004/0713/p01s03-woeu.html

It will be interesting to see what impact the Butler report has on this week's news coverage. It is a shame that a skeptical British press has to lead our "fair and balanced" media to actually cover the news .....

If the Butler report implies Blair pressured the intel, and Blair actually steps down, what impact will that have over here?

Blair: Yet another long time ally Bush has screwed ....

1. Good article.
I agree with your assessment of USA's "friendship". I've read so many articles about how the US pretends to be some country's best friend, and then they turn around and dump them, or cause them huge problems. Or, they renige on prior agreements.

The most worrisome thing about these "friendships" is that the US is the MOST fickle of fickle friends. They put soap opera heroines to shame. For several years we went after Muammar Khadaffi. Now, he's our best friend. I could name so many other instances; Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, petty dictatorships in the Middle East, etc etc.

However, I think that countries have long since figured out that our deep friendship is nothing to bank on. They've probably been screwed enough times, and they call each other on the phone and say, "buddy, watch out for that guy John Bolten in the State Department. He's promining you the world, but he'll cheat ya. So watch out."

Too bad Tony Blair didn't get the call.
