Ron Reagan to address Democratic Convention
Democrats have snagged a high-profile speaker — and a measure of political one-upmanship — for this month’s convention: Ron Reagan.

1. That is AWESOME!
I totally agree on the reasons why BTW.

Another reason to want the bush out of office.

3. Need Nancy in the audience!
I heard this on c-span this morning. Aparently the Pub come back on this is that you can't control all your kids. Well, I'd love to see Nancy in the audience at the convention, just to show that she ALSO supports her sons position.

4. I talked about this a couple of weeks ago...
After Ron Reagan appeared on Larry King and trashed Dumbya, I told my friends "Wouldn't it be great if we got him or Patty to speak at the DNC?" Well, lo and behold!!

What's a Repugnicant to do? Trash the son and namesake of the Gipper or try to ignore him, hoping he doesn't go off stumping for John Kerry this fall. Then pray that your own party's coup of Zell Miller will look inspired by comparison.

As a side note, Don't think for a minute that anything Ron Jr is doing hasn't gotten the thumbs-up from Nancy. They are TIGHT and he would never do anything that might embarass her.

6. What a crock
Why is this man being given a prime time spot which should be going to a Dem?

“If they had asked me to say a few words about throwing George Bush out of office, I wouldn’t do it,” Reagan told The Philadelphia Inquirer. “This gives me a platform to educate people about stem cell research.”

Just as bad as Sarah Brady. They expect us to support their pet issues, but refuse to join our party and/or oppose the repubs. :eyes:

7. He doesn't need to trash Bush from the podium
His very prescence on the podium says more than any speech.

Sometimes, we can do it subtly rathwer than use a meat-axe.

8. Not if he's still out
campaigning for repubs a la Brady. The article didn't say what he'd do other than take up a prime time spot from our convention.

If he's still supporting the repubs, most people will see this for what it is- merely a plea for help with a particular issue that affected him and his family, rather than a wholesale rejection of the Shrub administration and/or the neo-con agenda.
