NW conservationists decry new roadless rule
From the article:

SEATTLE -- Pacific Northwest conservationists are decrying the Bush administration proposal to let governors decide whether to seek protection of roadless national forest land, calling it a backhanded move to open up more areas for logging and mining.

"There's no conservation in this rule at all," Jay Ward of the Oregon Natural Resources Council said after Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman announced the plan Monday. "What it is ... is an evisceration of what was already there."

.......................................

"Once again the Bush administration has abdicated its leadership on a critical environmental issue," Locke (WA Gov. Gary Locke) said in a statement released Monday afternoon. "The management of our nation's forests demands national solutions that account for the concerns of all Americans."

.......................................

More than 2 million acres in Washington, nearly 2 million acres in Oregon and more than 14 million acres in Alaska would be affected.

Just another travesty in the ever growing line
brought to you by the putrescent poltroon.

Doesn't one need to first show some kind of leadership, before being able to abdicate it?

1. "Putrescent poltroon"?
Dr. Suess would be proud! May I use that?

He's showing leadership....right into the woods, for the lumber companies.

2. I don't mind.
I am using it in an as yet unpublished poem, but feel free to use it to refer to chimpy boy, if you like.

It seems rather apropros, with the putrefaction of corruption emanating from the WH and throughout their neofascist organizations.

After the publication of The Silent Spring Rachel Carson wrote to a friend: "The beauty of the living world I was trying to save has always been uppermost in my mind; that, and anger at the senseless, brutish things that were being done. I have felt bound by a solemn obligation to do what I could---if I didn't at least try I could never be happy again in nature."

3. I've noticed that a number of his political doners have been...

...pushing for their handouts before the election.

I think they fear a loss this Nov, and they're not likely to see corporate give-aways like this for many years to come.
