Goldenberg architect Kamlesh Pattni yesterday brought a new dimension to the inquiry - having possibly dealt with rebels in war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo.

He could not deny suggestions that proceeds from the minerals Goldenberg was buying was used to finance civil strife in the central African country.

Mr Pattni, however, said he was only purchasing the minerals "from willing sellers."

Intriguingly though, he told the inquiry that he would pay the Congolese in two different methods here in Kenya and abroad.
