Can you spare $5 for John Kerry and John Edwards?

We get over 20,000 visitors to this website every day. If everyone gave $5, we could easily raise $100,000 for the Kerry/Edwards ticket.

Maybe you haven't donated to Kerry/Edwards yet because you don't think you can afford it. Maybe you can't afford $50, but can you spare $5?

Maybe you already donated to Kerry/Edwards, and you weren't planning to donate again. But think about it: You can spare another $5, can't you?

For a campaign that's raising millions of dollars, one $5 donation won't make much difference. But if we all give $5, we can raise thousands and thousands of dollars. By donating together, we can leverage our numbers and have a real impact!

Just curious. I always estimated something like 5,000 active DUers and 10,000 lurkers, etc.

Just wanted to know how close I actually am, I guess. Is it possible to make the determination (or as clsoe as possible) that 20,000 seperate individuals are coming to DU every day?

Or is this just a sort of guess with a wee bit more indicative info?

Kerry is probably taking federal funds for the general election. So he may not be able to raise money AT ALL after the convention.

21. I believe you're right on that...

I'm pretty sure that spending limits and fund-raising restrictions kick in after the Democratic Convention. I believe that's the impetus for naming a running mate early -- they can order and pay for the truckloads of "Kerry/Edwards" yard signs and other literature with pre-convention money.

Last month, I gave an extra $100 because I was informed of a donation "deadline". Then this month, I got 2 more letters begging for $$$$$$. What gives? Sombody must know!

At the end of each quarter, the campaigns report how much money is raised and those are the numbers that are used to proclaim fundraising records which generate publicity and a sense of "who's winning." So June 30 was a big date in that Kerry raised a record amount of money for a challenger.

Like this: we help fund his election and he signs a contract with us to deliver results. We know how things work in DC. Money talks and lets face it, most large "campaign contributions" are really just bribes. Given his positions are almost indistinguishable from Bu$hco, lets treat him like the whore he is and demand a quid pro quo.
Through MoveOn, I have contributed money to four progressive candidates across the country who may have a shot at defeating incumbent Repukes.
I know the ABB refrain but I cannot give money to a candidate who seems intent on continuing with the destruction of our democracy. Maybe he can raise lots of money in Israel since he is such a supporter of the murderer Sharon.
