Cheney home is split on gay issue

Pity....

"Lynne Cheney, the wife of the US Vice-President, has put herself at odds with her husband and his boss by opposing a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage.

Mrs Cheney said the issue should be left to individual states, which is the position of the Democratic team of John Kerry and John Edwards. The Cheney's 35-year-old daughter Mary is gay.

Despite that family history, Mr Cheney supports George W. Bush's proposal to ask Congress to endorse a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriages...."
