Bush touts values, taunts Kerry for embrace by Hollywood
http://www.startribune.com/stories/587/4873408.html

Scott Lindlaw, Associated Press
July 14, 2004 BUSH0714

MARQUETTE, Mich. -- President Bush promoted himself as the champion of heartland American values Tuesday, taunting Democratic rival John Kerry for his recent embrace by Hollywood and New York City celebrities.

Bush opened a two-day tour of three Midwestern states he lost in 2000 - Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin - and carefully targeted his travels Tuesday around Lake Superior to appeal to conservative Democrats. From here, he went to Duluth, Minn., for another rally.

Aides said they viewed the region as fertile ground for a pitch on values and felt Bush had to respond after Kerry visited the region earlier this month and declared himself the guardian of ``conservative values.''

Bush's Michigan audience of political supporters groaned when Bush repeated Kerry's claim. ``I know, I know. Those were his own words,'' the president said, contending that Kerry had been rated ``the most liberal member of the Senate, although he didn't identify his source.

More: A sign outside one restaurant read, ``Welcome, President Bush, we pray for you daily.'' Another eatery on the lake printed up a yellow banner that said, ``Welcome President Bush. Join us for our all-you-can-eat fish fry.''

2. You know, when you look back,
the Repukes have NEVER liked Hollywood, even though their patron saint, St Ronnie the Redundant, was a movie star of sorts.

3. If the Repubs are so in love with "heartland" values, then
they should keep their fucking convention out of NYC!

5. Excuse me, but Ah-nuld is Hollywood, and he's speaking in prime time
The fact is, the Bush administration is perfectly willing to embrace Hollywood when it serves their interest.

7. * is just so incredibly jealous
that the most creative and talented people do not rally behind him. He calls it a "hate fest" with no acknowledgement of his loathesome behavior and policies. The dems have far better creative talent than the Repukes. * could only get Destiny's Child to celebrate *'s stealing of the election in '00. Thought that was really lame.

6. Marquette is Michigan redneck country...
It's in the Upper Peninsula - not a highly populated area - and those votes are a "given" for * anyway. He only goes where he knows he's welcome. When will he be coming to Detroit? Never, I would guess. He can go to Marquette a million times, but he won't win Michigan.

9. Bush the Gropenator and da coach can all swap stories
topics would include running a few companies in the ground, their lack of experience, and how fame money and hollywood status bailed them out of DUI's, gropenating and obnoxious tempers.

10. Earth to Bush:
Being responsible for the deaths of upwards of 55,000 innocent iraqis for a lie and the deaths of over 1000 Americans for a lie is not consistent with my idea of values: Truth, Justice, Honesty, Integrity, RESPONSIBILITY...
These are concepts completely alien to you. The only proper response to your remarks today would be: Go fuck yourself.

Sincerely,
The United States of America

11. You know , it is becoming obvious that Bush is going to use this type
of attack throughout the campaign. He has little else to run on.
'
Kerry needs to develop a little more indignation at the way Bush is smearing him and hit back real fast at all of these lies.,
'
We the voters deserve that.

12. Bush's handlers must have been looking at this page, because it is true...
..Hollywood DOES love Kerry. The proof is overwhelming (and pretty cool).

http://www.newsmeat.com/fec/hof.php

But so what. Wasn't his hero Ronald Reagan the incarnation of Hollywood in politics? That seemed to work out fine for them.

This is a great sign, because when any po starts blabbin' about Holywood, they are in serious trouble.

About the only one truly on Bush's side out there is Chuck Norris. Ouch.

14. Unqualified
If for no other reason, Bush is unqualified to be president because he is too thin-skinned. Bush should listen to what my mother used to say, "If you dish it out, you'd better be able to take it." Since he sure dishes it out to other politicians, he'd better learn to take it.
