To Christian Right, Arnie's a devil with biceps
While most Californians still want to know how Arnold Schwarzenegger can switch from Terminator to governor and fix their state's crippling budget deficit, the powerful Christian coalition inside his own Republican Party is more concerned about his views on gay marriage, abortion and cross-dressing in kindergartens.

In the increasingly surreal Californian recall election due on October 7, it now appears that Schwarzenegger's most lethal enemy may not be the Democrats and their unpopular Governor, Gray Davis, but the enemy within.

"The Religious Right are apoplectic that Arnold Schwarzenegger might become the governor," said Mark Mead, a spokesman for the Log Cabin Republicans, America's largest gay Republican organisation.

"He is a moderate, pro-choice, pro-gay Republican and to have someone like that being head of the largest state in the nation disturbs them because they don't think people like that should be leaders in the party."

1. Hopefully the Repukes will split their votes...
between the Cyborg and Bill Simon. Then Bustamante will have a decent chance of becoming Governor if the recall succeeds.

20. Hopefully the media will report- can't get biceps without taking steroids!
Or are they going to ignore this fact?

(You can't build biceps like that without steroids. Good example for our children!)

So where is all his support in the polls coming from? I don't get it.

6. Further illustration

that it isn't about ideology.

We could get a socialist (or fascist) elected in this nation if he had "IT."

13. IT?
So we need to get a socialist with an Austrian accent to win body building contests, then make a lucrative career out of playing a robot in the movies?

I guess so, but I was hoping we wouldn't have to stoop so low in order to win.

5. The BCFEE doesn't give a damn about the Fundies in CA
They don't need 'em in this election, so they will be cut loose to the winds.

Arnie doesn't really need much more than 10% of the vote to win this thing. The BCFEE knows this. This is why Arnie was invited to the Kenny Boy Lay meeting.

He's one of the "in" people with the BCFEE. Like father, like son.

11. "Be careful what you wish for--you may get it." Poor Reublicans!
The Republicans wanted a recall; they got one. Now they've got Arnold running as a moderate, and Christian conservatives running right into the arms of Bill Simon and Pete McIntclock. The Dems, in contrast, have only Cruz Bustamente running.

October 8th may have some ugly surprises in store for the Republican party, and if so, I play to spend the day drunk on champagne celebrating.

16. Arnold is a loose cannon for the Repubs...
They never wanted him to run in the first place. He surprised the hell out of them and now they are trying to make the best of it. If they were really supportive, they would request Simon to drop out..just like they did with Issa? The Repub establishment would never tell Arnold to appoint Warren Buffet, for example. :) Arnold is going to split the Repubs in CA. His only hope to win is to get a lot of Democratic votes... I think Davis and Dems are looking pretty good at this time.

This is great - "George Bush is a liberal Republican"!

Hee hee hee hee heee. Let the soccer/security moms hear what the Republicans are really all about!

18. Actually if Arnie
can help pull the Repubs closer to the actual center (instead of the neocons pulling the center to the right), it might be a healthy thing for the country.

He doesn't have to win to accomplish this. He just has to make a good enough showing that the gop strategists start to think that moderate repubs are good candidates, better than the flame-bait throwing neo-cons.

Less neo-cons running for office against us is a good thing.

and has talked about it interviews. However, the Christian whacks will love that he's into the woman being "the lesser vessel" thing, to the point claims that he wouldn't allow Maria or his mother to go out in public with him if they were are wearing pants. Apparently, he's softened his position on pants... Interesting read in today's Chron about his antics , including his admiration for Kurt Waldheim.

From the looks of it, the tabloids are going to have a field day.

22. Just 'cuz my enemy hates him doesn't make him my friend
He is an archtypal right-winger: self-absorbed, greedy and used to getting his way. He needs to be beaten just as a service to humanity itself. The world needs no more people who equate their worth to money and fame, and it needs no more people who feel above the law and deserving of anything they please because of accomplishments in totally unrelated fields.

It's too bad this group is so blinded to the challenged ethics of the rest of the Crime Family. If it involves mass murder in an unjust invasion, it's fine with them. If it involves some juicy sex. they are SHOCKED!

24. Christian Right Wingers would never vote
for the guy who posed for the pictures shown here:

http://www.rotten.com/library/bio/entertainers/actors/arnold-schwarzenegger/

All someone needs to do is to rent a few billboards around the state displaying the real Arnold. Then watch his "campaign" fall apart in a hurry.

And I know this is sleazy and we should be above this sort of thing. However, if these were photos of Gray Davis, do you think there would be a Californian who wouldn't have seen them on every media outlet by now courtesy of the GOP?
