Alack...Karl Rove must be off his game (TPM tidbit)
Gotta love Josh Marshall:

"As this site notes, the lawyer representing President Bush in the Plame case, James E. Sharp, is also defending Ken Lay in the Enron Götterdämmerung case. (bold is mine)

Admittedly, it probably doesn't presage a joint defense. But the optics leave a bit to be desired, no?"

(mods - sorry if this doesn't qualify as LBN...feel free to move as appropriate)

gets up in his usual flop sweat and stammers "But....Mr. Sharp also represented someone who once met a second cousin of Bill Clinton!"

6. Without Josh we would have completely missed this one
Appears that the blogs are doing all the work the media used to do in years gone by. The media just repeats sound bites and party propaganda talking points while the blogs are doing all the investigative work. And the reporters have the nerve to look down on blog writers. Ha! At the conventions the reporters will all be flocked around the routine campaign speeches while the blog writers will be out there scoping the crowd and scooping up the real dirt.

7. You missed this DU thread from yesterday...
seemslikeadream and susu369 caught it off Ken Lay's appearance on Larry King.

8. Doesn't surprise me one bit
DUers are great at this type of investigative work.

NYT and WaPo along with the network alphabets suck, big time.

Don't you long for a responsible media that would connect the dots and actually report this?

12. You're welcome, lib71!
You are absolutely correct, lib71. A free press is so important, the Founders made it the only business named in the Constitution. The First Amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

What these crypto-fascist turds of Corporate McPravda have done with their professional responsibilities today is a shame. These presstitutes and those who lower themselves even further to serve as the squeaky pipes of (to paraphrase Dulles) the crook's Mighty Whorelitzer are to be pittied. Their behavior and words are there for all to see through our future history and their inactions will ring through eternity.

15. Agreed
It turns my stomach to see a complete and utter tool like Russert fashion himself as some sort of Brahmin of electronic journalism when, in actuality, he's just another bought-n-paid-for harlot.

Thankfully, we have blogs. And the international press. And this board.

It's one big circle. One person seems to lead to another and they all seem to connect somehow.
Maybe it's just a power circle...maybe it's something else.

17. James E. Sharp
~SNIP~

"He began practicing law in Navy JAG and also served as assistant US
District Attorney for the District of Columbia. In about four decades of law practice, he has represented Richard Nixon friend Bebe Rebozo, Nixon advisor Jeb Stuart McGruder during the Watergate scandal, and Gen. Richard V. Secord during Iran-Contra. Sharp has also numbered former Enron CEO Kenneth Lay and author Clifford Irving among his clients. Maybe that's where the estate planning comes in. Despite the list of well-known Republican clients, his political donations go mostly to Democrats, including the presidential campaign of Sen. John Kerry."
