Chris Mathews on Leno about F 9/11 |
|
I just saw Chris Mathews, I think it was on Leno, talking about F 9/11. Basically, he said that the beginning clips of the Bush's cavorting with Saudis, playing golf, and all that stuff happened too fast and the tone came off being less than serious. But, he said, the rest of the movie was brilliant. The Marines trying to recruit young men, interviews with the family members. Basically he said that the aside from the scenes of the Bushes, that we've all seen one way or another, Moore produced a masterpiece.

There are many moderates in this country who do use him as their map reader. And if he's highly touting it, so much the better.

Do you think that I summarized his view of the film? I watched the whole interview, and ran three floors up to get it on the board. Folks here are not happy with me lately.

6. I appreciate the summary.. |

.. people here have been bitchy lately. Pay no attention if someone seems rude. I'm finding that beyond the initial welcome, it takes a while to be treated well around here sometimes.. hell, I've been here over 3 years, and I still get kicked around!! Thanks for running up the stairs to do this..

7. Hang in there. I like Matthews |
|
though he pisses me off at times. Lately, he's been more agressive with his interviewing. He's been having two guests from each side and as each side gets their air-time, he pushes the questions that would be coming from an opposing view.

9. I did too, until he said "I was wrong to oppose the war." |
|
He said this during the "cakewalk" when the US was driving towards Baghdad at top speed. Having openly opposed the war in the weeks before it started, he changed his mind when it looked like the US would win easily.
Shallow pragmatism.
I wonder what he says now.

I don't usually watch Leno, so wouldn't have known otherwise.
Matthews, on his Chris Matthews show last weekend, chastised Cokie Roberts and David Brooks for running the movie down without having seen it. Fineman and a young woman from the Christian Science Monitor were there and had seen it and thought it was pivotal.
Matthews said he felt as Roberts and Brooks did until he saw the movie.
Now he feels like Fineman and the CSM reporter.
It's good to see he can change his mind. Either the movie or his African vacation did him a world of good.
