Bush Warns Kerry Will Derail His Policies
WAUKESHA, Wis. - President Bush (news - web sites) told more than 5,000 cheering supporters Wednesday in the heavily Republican suburbs of Milwaukee that his conservative values in building up the nation's defenses and instituting tax cuts are solutions to America's problems and that Democrat John Kerry (news - web sites) should not be allowed to derail them.
Bush said his approaches to national security and the economy are working so well that Kerry is trying to embrace conservatism.
...
"The problem is how do you continue to justify the war in Iraq and connect it to the war on terrorism rather than have it tied to weapons of mass destruction," said University of Wisconsin political science professor Charles Franklin. "It's a pretty bold position that the president is taking."
...
Edwards said in an interview aired Wednesday on NBC's "Today" show that he and Kerry trusted Bush to put in place a detailed plan for Iraq, but the president failed.

I love this headline. My reply is that is why I'm voting for Kerry. I hope he will derail Bush's policies. We are embroiled in a quagmire in Iraq. The recovery is showing signs of reversing. His environmental policies need to be derailed immediately.

62. These are the program reversals that'll occur........
1. We're going to reverse the Bush policy that doesn't have all available forces fighting the war on terror by going after the guy who attacked us on 9/11, Osama bin Laden.

2. We're going to reverse the Bush-job-loss policies that have given us the 1st administration since the Depression in the 1920's, that has net job losses.

3. We're going to go back to being fiscally responsible and reverse the huge Bush deficits, the biggest in US history.

4. We're going to reverse the Bush policy of sending troops to war without armored vehicles and with everyone getting the very best body armor.

5. We're going to reverse the Bush policy that allows lies to occur in The State of The Union report.

6. We're going to reverse the Bush 1/2 trillion dollar drug boondoggle that does not allow the US Govt, the largest buyer of drugs in the world, to get a volume discount..... and use the funds that'll allow Sr'.s to buy drugs at reasonable prices that they ALL can afford.

Get the picture?

If the Kerry Campaign doesn't take advantage of the softball the AWOL administration has thrown them by replying to Bush's fear of REVERSAL..... I'll be disappointed.

I have had several letters published in the Waukesha Daily Freeman.

On topics from Torture, Bush using 911 in campaign ads, as well as local issues both positive and negative.

Waukesha itself has a core of progressives located in the city center. A peace group demonstrates every month downtown Waukesha.

In 2000 Gore gave a speech in Cutler Park downtown. I fully expect Kerry to make a stop here as well. There is an opportunity to turn moderates republicans away from Bush in Waukesha Co. it is not completly taken over by wingnuts....

People are turned off by war, torture and loss of jobs Mexico and China.

Doesn't the tone of this article strike you as weird?

Bush is running around touting "conservative values" saying that we have to keep in place his policies (which are UNPOPULAR by the way, most Americans think Iraq is a mistake and don't approve of his giveaway to the rich tax cuts). I am more and more convinced that Bush/Rove feels their base is under real threat. Why is he running to the right? He got 1/4 of the gay vote last election - does anyone believe he will get that now? He got 8% of the African-American vote. Does anyone believe he will get more votes after the NAACP snub?

Now the gay marriage thing has blown up on him. To Christian conservatives he probably looks completely incompetent.

Why do this? His base is already secure isn't it? Why is he not tacking to the middle like Kerry and Edwards are?

Bush Promises to Complete Mission in Iraq

By PETE YOST, Associated Press Writer

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Responding to a bombing that struck at the heart of the new Iraqi government, President Bush (news - web sites ) mentioned the name of a Jordanian militant as a possible suspect Wednesday and said the United States will not be deterred in bringing democracy to the Middle East.

"A free Iraq (news - web sites ) is in this country's interest," the president told supporters during a two-day tour of three Midwest states that he lost in the 2000 presidential election. He vowed to "complete our mission."

In the latest violence in Iraq, a suicide attacker detonated a massive car bomb at a checkpoint near the British Embassy and headquarters of the interim Iraqi government, killing at least 10 people and wounding 40, including a U.S. soldier.

69. There's a certain sense of irony here
Team W is trying to scare the base with that line, but one of the reasons I've pretty much written off Team K is that they probably wont derail much.. funny how that works out.

77. Is that a threat or a promise?
I certainly hope Kerry will derail Bush's policies.

78. All the more reason to vote Kerry/Edwards, in my opinion.
Edited on Thu Jul-15-04 02:12 PM by calimary
I rather enjoy the notion of turning ann coulter's assertion on its/her ass - "we're going to destroy (or dismantle, whatever verb it was) everything you believe in." I am EAGER to vote for someone who can destroy or dismantle everything bush believes in. I can hardly wait to do so!
