Edwards brother raises DWI hell
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/212416p-182902c.html

Sen. John Edwards' little brother has an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Colorado and has thumbed his nose at more than $800 in fines for driving infractions.

Wesley Blake Edwards, 39, has been a terror on the road for more than two decades. He has been arrested four times for drunken driving, twice been sentenced to a week in jail for DWI and lost his right to drive in four states.

But even after his license was suspended and revoked, he repeatedly got back behind the wheel - only to be stopped by police again.

He is currently a wanted man in Colorado, which issued a warrant for his arrest in 1994 after he skipped a court date on a DWI case.

Amazing how news media can dig this up - but in 2000 the news media couldn't find this stuff on Bush and Cheney!

40. He's not registered to vote, but his wife is a republican. And John
Edwards is one awesome guy - he bought his brother a house in 1999.

Brother racked up
different kind of record
By ADAM LISBERG
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER
snip---------

The campaign issued a statement to the Daily News yesterday: "Sen. Edwards loves his brother. He is a good man who worked hard and has never wanted to be in the spotlight."

Blake Edwards lives with his wife, Debbie, 46, and their daughter in a modest two-story home that his brother bought for him with $100,000 cash in 1999, property records show.

Blake Edwards works as a union electrician, and his well-worn toolbox sat on the front porch after he returned from work last week. A white Dodge - the same car he was caught driving last year - sat in the driveway with an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers sticker and a "John Edwards for President" bumper sticker.

Despite the sticker, John Edwards' little brother does not appear to be registered to vote in North Carolina. Debbie Edwards is - as a Republican.

47. So what
Edited on Thu Jul-15-04 08:36 PM by louis c
He's not running for V.P.

The most disturbing part of this story is that Blake's not registered to vote. His wife, I would assume, is Republican for Kerry-Edwards.

As far as his DUI is concerned, the Supreme Court selected a President who did that.

I wish my IBEW Brother all the best, because I'm sure you are a decent guy and you can be proud of the fact that your real brother will help turn this nation around.

Good Luck to you and Debbie.

My real brother is a Republican; his wife is a Republican office holder. I wouldn't vote for them for anything, and the feeling is mutual.

68. However
John Edwards says his brother is a hard working guy who shuns the spotlight. I tend to believe John Edwards.

There are some very decent folks who have personal problems which may include drinking or other vices. I pass no judgment and give each the benefit of the doubt. However, I draw the line at electing one President.

As for Debbie, I firmly believe that everyone votes in their own best interest. Having a Brother-in-law as V.P. seems obvious to me, but I may stand corrected, she may not want all the attention that goes with it.

64. Yeah. Blake Edwards is just a workingman that may have an
alcohol problem. And John Edwards loves his brother and tries to help him out. What is the big deal?

I have a brother with a drinking problem, and I love him and try to help him, too.

Does that make me a bad person?

Republicans are pathetic.

Yes, there's one in Maine where Georgie plead out nolo contendere (no contest, i.e., "guilty"), however, is there rumored some (plural) in Texas too?

What's that Diversion Program thingie George did out-of-the-blue while in Texas long before he was governor??

And just like the president and his family, they have their difficulties. It appears the president still drinks and we are not sure if he still does drugs. and then there is the rest of bush family into drugs, alcohol and arrests, drinking underage while accompanied by federal agents. And we have cheney who has several DUIs. And laura bush killed someone. Neil stole money from a bank and blamed it on everyone else.

And we could go on but ......perhaps the reporter needs to attend a 12 step meeting....
