Cameroon holds 'spying' SA journalist
By Tansa Musa

Yaounde - Cameroon's army is holding two BBC journalists under house arrest on suspicion of spying in the disputed and potentially oil-rich Bakassi peninsula, the British Broadcasting Corporation said on Thursday.

Farouk Chothia, a South African producer, and Thomas Ngu Ange, a Cameroonian reporter, were arrested on Sunday shortly after arriving in Bakassi to cover the planned withdrawal of Nigerian troops from the region.

Nigeria and Cameroon have come close to war over Bakassi, the subject of a long-standing border row, but the International Court of Justice ruled in 2002 that it should go to Cameroon.
