Bush Optimistic for Cyclist Armstrong (making predictions...LOL)
ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE - President Bush (news - web sites) predicted Friday that Lance Armstrong will win the Tour de France — and added with a smile that he will triumph in his own race for re-election.

Bush fed his new passion for bicycling by watching the tour on Air Force One's TV screens, rooting for fellow Texan Armstrong during a punishing stage through the Pyrenees mountains.

Asked by The Associated Press whether he thought Armstrong would pull off a record-breaking sixth straight tour win, Bush flashed two thumbs-up.

"He's going to win and I'm going to win," Bush said en route to Florida and West Virginia — two critical states in re-election campaign.

"There's no need to worry about either race any more," Bush said with a wave of his hands and a grin.

4. naw, bush is doomed. armstrong doesn't need bush's "prediction..." bush
can't jinx someone who is already a winner. bush, on the other hand, is a loser, who lost the last election and is doomed to lose this one.

7. "Fellow Texan"? Uh, shrubby, you may claim Texas residency, but
Edited on Fri Jul-16-04 11:48 AM by FoeOfBush
you are NOT a Texan. You just think you play one on TV.

Edit: Bush fed his new passion for bicycling...

Apparently when you send out a bike fall as a cover story for your latest facial bumps and bruises, that means you are a bicycling enthusiast!!

15. Maybe if Lance moved to CT he could claim to be a "Yankee"?
After all, if you're born in CT and move to Odessa, that makes you a "Texan"...

11. Oh, brother.
Now he's pretending to be a bicyclist? I guess pretending to be an Air Force pilot didn't work out so well, so now he's trying this on for size? Pathetic wussy. I know six-year olds who ride bikes better than he does.

Along those lines, there isn't a six-year old on the planet who can't fly right past me on skis or a snowboard. And inline skates. And a skateboard. And....

Thanks for reminding me. (frowny face here)

"Here, George, look what I got you at WalMart"

"Wow, gee thanks, Unkle Karl! A new Huffy! But why? I can't ride..."

"You'd better learn, George. The polls say women go nuts over pix of Kerry in his spandex shorts on that Erotica or whatever it's called...Why he can't ride a good MURKAN bike like a Huffy...."

"OK, Unka Karl, here I go!.....CRASH!!!!!"

19. One problem with this story: Dubious doesn't have the attention span...
to watch the Tour. There's simply no way that he actually watched the stage. He's just not capable of sitting down and concentrating for that long.

I bet he'd hate to focus his "beautiful mind" on even a 500 m time trial, let alone hundreds of kilometres of roads lined by crowds of French people!

Also, I read somewhere that Armstrong was against the war in Iraq.

Really? Well, he told a German newspaper that he considers himself politically to the left of the middle, that he was against the war in Iraq and pro-choice...

Just another of his famous bluffs? I don't think so...

If Lance truly considers Dimwit his "friend", then I've lost all respect for Lance....

I lost respect for him after he left his wife and kids for Sheryl Crow. (For the record, his wife played an integral part in his cancer recovery)

26. I didn't know all details of their breakup...I was under the impression
...their marriage ended a 2-3 years back and that the attempt at having more children, his training schedule, the travel schedule, his spending most of the year in his house in Spain and his wife wanting to be in Texas, etc. etc. caused the eventual realization that despite their commitment to their children and their love for eachother, that it was just different directions that their life goals and desires were going. Last year when they were at the Tour de France together, they were still trying, but many said that the marriage was pretty much over. My understanding is that Sheryl Crow came into the picture long after Lance and his wife had decided to part amicably and to be co-parents of the children they both love.

I can't lose respect for him on this issue related to his marriage...marriage, as many of us know, are complex relationships and only the two people involved know all the details and it generally takes two. I don't know him personally, but know people who do, and everyone speaks very highly of him and like I said, from what I "hear" from people, his relationship with his wife was "ending" several years ago and has been respectful and fair and he still "loves" her, but that their future is not one as a married couple.

Being "Friends" with Bu$h - that is something to lose respect over someone....My hunch though, is that that is a "one-sided" relationship and not necessarily one in which he wants to publicly tell George to shove it...

29. Uh, "For the Record"...
Lance met Kik AFTER he was well on the way back. You folks who wanna play "Poor girl, nursed him back from death's door, gave him 3 kids then got dumped" violin need to fact-check.

Hey, I'm divorced twice. suppose you got "no respect" for me, either?

(careful..you know about as much about MY divorces as you do Lance's)
