N.Korea Is Bigger Threat Than Iraq, Clinton Says
AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Former U.S. President Bill Clinton (news - web sites) sees North Korea (news - web sites) as more of a threat than Iraq (news - web sites) was, but thinks another "preemptive" war by the United States is unlikely, he was quoted on Saturday as saying.

Clinton told the Dutch daily NRC Handelsblad in an interview that U.S. difficulties in Iraq meant President Bush (news - web sites)'s doctrine of preemptive strikes would not be used against other states like North Korea or Iran, despite the threats they posed.

"North Korea has almost a million people in the army. They have powerful rockets and if we attacked preemptively, they would no longer have a reason not to attack South Korea (news - web sites)," Clinton said, according to a Reuters translation from the Dutch.

"There are circumstances under which I would support the president if he attacked North Korea. In Europe, perhaps nobody would do that, but I would," Clinton told the Dutch newspaper during a visit to Amsterdam to promote his memoir "My Life."

2. Isn't it curious that

we're pulling men and munitions out of Korea just before " * " loses the election. Looks like a set up.
This is what Poppy did to Clinton in Somalia. Stir the pot and leave.

3. It's true, North Korea is our biggest enemy
Those folks hate our guts like you wouldn't believe. They are starving to death because of our sanctions and are taught from an early age to hate America. At least the Iraqis hated Saddam. North Koreans have a fanatical cult-worship love of their dear leader. I saw a documentary of these guys and whenever it is raining, they use their bodies to cover up portraits and statues of that asshole.

Not to mention they are so damn militaristic. They can't hardly wait for an excuse to take South Korea and even Japan. And they say they have nuclear weapons and I believe them.

4. Whoa!
North Korea's people are starving because the dictator is a total narcisist who has spent way too much of his country's budget on the army, weapons and to satisfy his own vanity.

the people love him because he blames it on the U.S. to keep them under control.

and for a time, many Iraqis loved Saddam because he brought them education & health care.

I think there is a lesson here for us.

5. We should love Bush and blame Saddam for our lack of health care!
I'm strongly against economic sanctions. They hurt the wrong people. Yes Lil Kim is an asshole who spends most of his nation's budget on the military. But we could help those people if we wanted. A lot of them eat grass and tree bark to survive. We could send over some food and medicine. What's wrong with that? That helps the people, improves our image, and they can't use potatoes and milk to attack us later.

6. pot meet kettle
yes, Kim Jong Il is a despicable man - not in question.

But when will the US address the poverty within its borders?

When will the US address the enormous amount of money spent on the military industrial complex?

At what point do we see ourselves in the mirror?

8. U.S. Moving Weapons Out of South Korea
SEOUL, South Korea - Around-the-clock train and truck convoys are moving military hardware from the tense border with North Korea as the U.S. Army prepares to redeploy 3,600 troops to Iraq.

The massive logistical feat began July 7 and is moving hundreds of Abrams tanks, Bradley fighting vehicles, Humvees and artillery pieces to the southern port city of Busan to be shipped out under tight security.

About 3,600 troops from the U.S. Army's 2nd Infantry Division, dug into encampments between Seoul and the heavily fortified border with North Korea, will follow their equipment to Iraq.

9. And in part, thanks to Bill's lies (a policy maintained, to be fair)
It is nice that he at least acknowledges the absence of logic in shooting first, though for typically wrong reasons. I guess if the crusade in Iraq (that he spent a decade paving the way for, on the side) such lunacy might be on the table? Indeed, the fact is that the way things are going seems to have permanently altered policy (a lesson re-learned); it seems that a state that can actually defend itself will never again be seriously bothered.
