Bush Extends Debate on Values to Children

<snip>

Drug use and violent crime among teenagers have decreased dramatically, while children raised in households with married parents are less likely to live in poverty, the president said Saturday in his weekly radio address. He cited a newly issued government report to claim progress.

<snip>

He said parents, schools and government can counter the negative influences in today's culture and send the right messages to children.

The culture of America is changing from one that said, "if it feeds good, do it; and if you've got a problem, blame somebody else," Bush said, using language reminiscent of his recent campaign speeches.

4. What on earth are they up to? Let the culture wars begin.
Is it just me or does their campaign strategy seem to be in tatters.
They don't have a damn thing to run on.

3. "if it feeds good"??? ( Freudian slip?)
These people haven't gotten over being left out of the "free love" of the 60's. Their obsession with the caricatures and symbols of the 60's is truly pathological. No small amount of their obsession in attacking Clinton was the perceived degree to which he allied himself with the liberals of that era.

More Bushisms by the minute!

If it feeds good, do it!

Of course, The Chimp did everything that felt and fed good up until the age of 40, by his own admission. And, this bastard never took personal responsibility for anything, so he should really be the last person on earth to lecture anyone about blame. :grr:

8. "if it feels good, do it; and if you've got a problem blame somebody else"
hmmm, OK. That's a pretty big judgment to make for someone who decided that going to war with a country who wasn't a threat felt good so he did it. And when the problem of the public finding out the war was not justified, he blamed the intelligence community.

Then, of course, there's the drinking, the hazing, the ridiculing, the constant failed business attempts, etc. And let's not even go into the fact that his own children have obvious issues of "if it feels good, do it" syndrome. :eyes:

If he wants to lie about the war and the economy, health care, environmental issues, fine. But he has no right preaching to me or any other parent about how to raise children with values.

Who appears to have been brought up better with more class and intelligence?

(btw I know someone is going to bring up the boob shot, according to Vanessa Kerry, her sister nipple wasn't showing really at all, the flash from the camera made it visible through that dress)

12. So what did W say about Noelle Bush, Jeb's daughter ?
She is a major druggie, right? I guess she isn't getting the message from her republican values family. What is their excuse for Noelle, who are they blaming for her drug-addled life? For that matter why are the Bush twins always out getting liquored up all the time? What's their excuse, who are they blaming?

14. The hypocrite
is a fine one to preach about family values. He is completely out of touch with real people since he has led some sort of a celebrity existence all his his miserable life. He has no idea what it is to have to WORK for a living to raise a family with or without a contributing spouse. Decent people teach their children that it isn't godly to kill people to satisfy their egos and the desire for power.

15. So are his daughters his NEW handlers?
Or is he just whoring them out to the media for show? Absolutely no photo has appeared this week of Bush without one of his busty, tightly shirted daughters immediately to his right. There seems absolutely no point in having them photographed walking constantly, but that's all we've been seeing.

It's one thing to have photos from an event, in which the SPOUSE and the kids attended, or small children, who obviously would always be with their parents.. but this barrage of Bush's Busty Babes just makes him look older and less hip. Looks like their lawyer, not their father.. Absolutely no warmth in any photos..

16. It's a great idea George,
it would help a lot if the mothers could stay at home and raise the family and the fathers had a good paying job with benefits.

You wanna go back to the 1950s? Start with the "values" thing, where peoples employers ran their companies like a huge "family" rather than an out & out greedy Monopoly game.

Unbridled greed would appear to be the worst affliction destroying our culture and so called "values" Mr. Bush, wake up

20. What a hypocrite. Here is what Bu$h really does to children:
Fiscal Year 2005 Bu$h Budget

President Bush denies critical services to millions of disadvantaged children. President Bush shortchanges his own No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) by $9.4 billion—including $7.2 billion for Title I. The President breaks his promise to provide $20.5 billion for Title I under NCLB. His Budget will deny nearly 5 million disadvantaged children critical education services, such as extra help to become proficient in reading and math. Since NCLB was signed into law President Bush has underfunded the law by $26.5 billion or 21.7 percent.•

President Bush freezes or cuts college aid, forces taxes on students, and fails to stop tuition hikes. Despite rising college tuition and the declining buying power of grants, President Bush has frozen or cut the maximum Pell Grant for the last 3 years. The President freezes the maximum Pell Grant at $4,050, freezes Work-study and Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG), and forces increased taxes on students. Not only does the President fail to address rising college tuition, but he also makes college even more expensive by freezing or cutting student aid and taxing students. •

President Bush jeopardizes aid to children of military families. The Bush budget freezes all Impact Aid funding at the FY 2004 level, jeopardizing programs and services for children of military families. •

President Bush breaks his NCLB promise on afterschool programs. The Bush budget freezes funding for afterschool programs. As a result, nearly 1.3 million children will be shut out of afterschool programs

22. I am bucutis of Borg . . . you will be assimilated . . .
"Bush highlighted his proposals to spend $23 million for drug testing in schools and $25 million to encourage schools to develop curricula promoting good character."

By whose definition, please?

You will go to mediocre schools, for which bucutis will not pay.
You will learn only those things bucutis says are acceptable.
You will believe everything on the approved reading list.
You will learn to report to work every day of your life working for slave wages while we live off your labor.
You will never be sick.
You will buy, buy, buy products on the approved list.
You will support gov't without question.
You will fight wars without question.

You will be assimilated.

Resistance if futile.

23. OK: Explain to me why kids in SWEDEN are doing the BEST in the
world? Marriage in Sweden is OPTIONAL (nobody cares if you are married to have a child...every child is important). They have gay unions (nobody tries to kill them or make them disappear... it is their life after all) despite SANTORUM'S hate filled attacks on Sweden's record of marriage going down because of those damn turtle-fornicating gays.

INSTEAD OF TRYING TO PUSH PEOPLE TO DO WHAT THE FUNDIES THINK IS RIGHT Let's educate them so they know their choices and responsibilities towards themselves and society.

If a single mother has a child, she should be able to find good child care so she can work... so it is not only the fact that she is single, BUT IT IS THE LACK OF SUPPORT FROM THE GOVERNMENT AND THE COMMUNITY that forces children into horrible situations. THIS IS A SOCIETY, not every individual for him/herself....

Finally, this paragraph is absolutely hilarious:

When parents, schools, and government work together, we can counter the negative influences in today's culture and send the right messages to our children. As yesterday's report shows, we are making progress in changing the culture of America from one that said, "if it feels good, do it; and if you've got a problem, blame somebody else," to a culture in which each of us understands we are responsible for the decisions we make in life. WHERE IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY you hypocrite!!!!!

I seem to remember seeing a network feed of his speech to the nation on the night the invasion began. I remember him pumping his fist and saying, "It feels good."
