Prankster Uses Plastic Wrap as Road Trap in Wisconsin; Two Motorists Hurt
TOWN OF WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) - A prankster tightly wound plastic wrap around traffic poles across a two-lane road, causing a motorcycle accident that injured two people.
Daniel Buckel, and his girlfriend, Theresa Brzykcy, were riding south of Waukesha on Tuesday when their motorcycle crashed into the plastic wrap set up 3 to 4 feet above the road - wound thickly from traffic poles on opposite sides.

Buckel, 22, was within 10 feet when he saw the makeshift barricade, and hit the brakes.

"It's appalling, and it's really frightening," Brzykcy, 19, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "What was their intention? This should make people more aware that pranks like that are not as harmless as they seem."

1. Bush just left there, they were overcome by evil

Waukesha - Playing to a standing-room-only crowd of ardent supporters, President George Bush brought his re-election campaign to heavily-Republican Waukesha County Wednesday touting his tax cut plan, cheering the nation's economic recovery and pledging to continue the war on terrorism.

for being in a deodorant commercial where they stretched a giant green rubber band between two trees and jacked up a bicycle race.

4. Hey, don't blame me, I have witnesses to my whereabouts...
Sad to say this happened in rock-throwing distance to the center of my universe.

Waukesha Co. has a big repug contingent, but curiously developed as a blue collar town with founderies, pump factories...it also remains a counterpoint to the metropolitan environment about 15 miles to the east, and has a system of one way streets of which the Bermuda Triangle might be jealous.

Waukesha Co. has a history of teen pranks that get out of hand. I suspect it is a consequence of rebelling against conservative parents, but it could just be that very wacky "kids" (people up to 26 years of age) live there.

Me? Well, in my mind paradise is just to the west of Waukesha Co. in the drumlin fields of Jefferson Co. We are civilized folks who get high school students to kill our ex-spouses and who "disappear" their parents into the wilds of Carolina Piedmont. Which is to say we are just yer average midwestern kindof folks.

7. We used to say "All Black Holes Lead to Waukesha"
The downtown streets are...impressively complicated. I grew up in Waukesha Co. and spent several years at its fine extension University.

For a small city, there's a lot of social stratification as I remember it...it's been 10 years since I've been there. There was a vast difference between the suburbs and outskirts and the neighborhoods around The Strand. Not a lot of mingling.

And you're right about Waukesha Co pranks. I remember one year, a group of teenagers in Big Bend decided it would be fun to get on top of buildings downtown at night and shoot out car windows with their pellet guns. Went on for months, too. Hey, they were bored teenagers who owned weapons -- it was before Nintendo, you know.

Not that I ever engaged in pranksterism back in the day, of course...

10. on a related note- the headless snowmobiler...
just about every year you hear about at least one snowmobiler being decapitated by a farmer's wire fence, or some such otherwise unseen obstruction...my question is this-
when a snowmobiler gets decapitated like that- how do they get the helmet off of the head, or the head out of the helmet, depending on how you look at it...?

11. Maybe the prankster knew his intention was NOT harmless?
This is nasty...

15. Not "pranksters"
I would call them criminals. A prank is throwing toilet paper in tree. Causing harm to two people is a criminal act and hopefully will be treated as such.
