Bernie Sanders Hosts Airing of ‘Outfoxed’
http://www.rollcall.com/issues/50_8/news/6277-1.html (subscription required)

Rep. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) this week is spearheading what he hopes will be a Congressional offensive against alleged Republican bias at Fox News Channel, inviting his colleagues to a private screening of a new film that accuses the station of conservative coverage.

The Vermont Independent is also asking House Members and Senators to sign a letter to Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch that asks the media mogul to meet with Members to discuss their concerns about the station’s coverage.

Sanders, who launched a liberal radio talk show of his own last year, said in an interview Friday he is leading the fight against Fox as part of his longstanding battle against corporate control of media outlets. He said that while Fox is not the only culprit, he’s concerned when any media outlet presents only one point of view.

“Certainly, it’s terribly important for those of us who are concerned with corporate control of the media and large influential networks that exercise a lot of influence to make that point — especially when Murdoch tells us what we’re watching is fair and balanced. After five minutes of watching Fox you know it’s not fair and it’s not balanced.”

1. This reminds me of an article on salon.com
a while ago. It had the headline that basically said "what's wrong with being so obviously partisan?" I guess whoever wrote that is finding out that erosion of creditability for a news station is pretty serious.

2. I went to an "Outfoxed" viewing party tonight. The film is very
frightening since it appears that other stations are following suit.

It was pretty professionally done. It was hard to sit through tho because O'Reilly and Hannity are so truly aggravating. I hear everyone here talk about them and their antics but we purposely do not have cable and we watch very, very little TV so it was unsettling watching these idiots at work. They are so obvious it isn't funny. After seeing this, they should actually be sued for false advertising with their "fair and balanced" claim.

I give this movie two   for their professionalism and for meeting their goal and two :puke: :puke: for making me watch those idiots for the first time.

11. Thanks for the replies
i have watched a few videos, bought a couple here and there, and got a few duds(that's why i asked). My guess would be that it is very expensive and time consuming to draw up all this stuff up, produce, market and sell it.

i watched F911 and saw a few places in the movie it could have been more intriguing (the DUer in me thought anyway). But getting that mix to capture the widest audience is also a challenge, then to make a living off it too, MM needs a trophy, yikes.

4. Next we have to take on CNN/MSGOP/CNBC!
I guess that CBS is left alone as the last true news outlet in the crowd.

12. Went to meetup tonite with 30 others to see it
I found myself biting back screaming at the movie because I can't stand O'Riley. He is such an idiot. As part of moveon.org we had a conference call and heard Al Franken talk about it. They said they are going to file a motion in court tomorrow to get rid of "fair & balanced" from them. About damn time!

We had a great idea at meeting though if we can stomach part of fox news. Usually I can stand about 1 second. Everyone thought we should watch only to see who the sponsors are and write them and say we aren't going to buy their products because they deal with fox news.
