Falcon Products Closes Factory In Belmont, MS (180 Layoffs)
"As Falcon Products Inc. of Olivette seeks to cut costs and rationalize its manufacturing, the company will close its factory in Belmont, Miss., in September, laying off about 180 people.

This is the third plant Falcon Products has shut down in the last year, although Belmont should be the commercial furniture maker's last major plant closure, Phillip J. Pacey, Falcon Products' chief financial officer, said Monday.

EDIT

In 2003, Falcon shut down a plant in Zacatecas, Mexico, and earlier this year closed a plant in Canton, Miss. After the plant in Belmont closes, Falcon will have five plants in the United States and four factories abroad.

Falcon Products is a major manufacturer of commercial furniture, building products for such companies as McDonald's Corp. and Hilton Hotels Corp. Although Falcon is a big player in this market, it blames a slumping hospitality industry and excess manufacturing capacity for its financial woes."

2. Slumping hospitality industry?
Gee, I thought we were in a booming economy.

5. Falcon shut down a plant in Zacatecas, Mexico.
Join the US for a refreshing round of predatory capitalism, where all the people with less tear each other down and bid against each other for the crumbs offered by the rich folk.

And when you win the contest to work for less, you get to play another round with folks who will work for even less.

Gotta love the system, and it's finally gone completely international!
