Doesn't this idiot know that is what TEMPS are FOR?? To replace permanent workers who are on leave and vacation?

What a serious asshole!!

Fucking sexist pig!

Nice to see the U.S. hasn't yet cornered the market on sexist pig politicians...

2. What? Replace workers who are on vacation, pregnancy leave,
having surgery, etc., with temp workers? Who the hell does that anymore? All the bosses do is allow the work to pile up on your desk so it greets you when you get back. Then you have to work like a slave just to catch up.

That's what you get for having the nerve to go on vacation or get sick.

I liked the good old days better. I truly am becoming a curmudgeon.

4. You aren't bad, mermaid. It's just that it has been 20 years since
I have heard of a temp being used in that way. Now they work in jobs regular workers used to get, and get rotated just before their year is up so employers don't have to pay benefits!

see an end to it.

Any more UK DUers want to comment on this? This UKIP MEP is on the European parliament's committee on women's rights and gender equality no less. The Telegraph story goes into a bit more depth

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml;sessionid=D0YB2OJT4IJLLQFIQMFCM5OAVCBQYJVC?xml=/news/2004/07/21/nukip21.xml&sSheet=/portal/2004/07/21/ixportaltop.html&secureRefresh=true&_requestid=125036

Godfrey Bloom, UKIP's newly elected member for Yorkshire and the Humber, said he would use his seat on the Women's Rights Committee to "promote men's rights".

He added flippantly that women needed to do a better job taking care of the home. "I quite simply feel that they don't clean behind the fridge. I represent Yorkshire women who always have dinner on the table when you get home," he said.

UKIP's 11-strong, all-male group - down from 12 after the loss of Ashley Mote, who is facing charges for benefit fraud - scrambled to limit the damage, down-playing the remarks as a clumsy attempt to highlight the suffocating burden of EU red tape and the cost of maternity leave for very small firms.

8. I think the UKIP will self-destruct very quickly
This makes it look irredeemably sexist; and the fraud charge as hopelessly dishonest. It's the unacceptable wing of the 1990s Conservative party, on steroids. Now they will get quoted a bit, they'll lose the support they need to stay elected.
