Republican complaints over 'liberal image'.
Conservative Republicans are complaining that President George Bush's re-election team is planning too liberal an image for the party convention.

In a clear attempt to woo "swing voters", the prime-time speakers' list at next month's convention is dominated by moderate Republicans including the former mayor of New York, Rudolph Giuliani, and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

But for most Republicans, the moderates' views on social issues are closer to those of the Democrats than their own party's core.

More than half the Republicans in the House of Representatives have signed a letter to Mr Bush complaining about the lack of "pro-life" speakers in a coveted prime-time slot, with the obvious exceptions of Mr Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney.

Republican complaints...

10. I hope they go very very conservative
Have speakers telling people that contraception will be banned, Ashcroft will be able to monitor their sexual habits as well as their reading habits, and Social Security will be totally privatized because anyone who is not rich is obviously lazy and doesn't deserve anything. Maybe then the people of this country will wake up and realize what the GOP is really planning to do.

11. Pay Attention People!
For both campaign runs for governor of Texas and for his run for the presidency, bu$h ran as a moderate, from the center. Once in office he swung to the far right. He is doing it again. This is a Rove tactic.

13. Ding Ding Ding! RC, you're our grand prize winner!
bu$h ran as a moderate...Once in office he swung to the far right. He is doing it again...

As Georgie himself once attempted to say, Fool us twice, shame on us. This is a psy-ops--this is exactly the way they want to come across in a effort to woo swing voters.

16. By All Means, Give The Far Right Their Head
By all means, give the Far Right their head. Let the Far Right pick the speakers for the Republican Party convention and tell the moderates to shut up, smile, and wave as right-wing fire-eaters try to call down heckfire and darnation on pro-choice activists, people for gay rights, enviornmentalists, people interested in mass transit, people wanting better public education, and those who dare restore the vision of FDR's New Deal.
