NALC endorses John Kerry for president.

The 64th biennial convention of the National Association of Letter carriers has just endorsed John Kerry for president. The convention crowd at the Honolulu convention Center gave a wildly enthusiatic demonstation after the vote.

NALC is 115-year-old orginization an has a national membership of 300,000.

No link, I'm a delegate to the convention. This is a first hand report.

AFL-CIO and could have supported Kerry months ago. He choose to let the membership decide at the convention.

I was just @ my rural post office to pick up forms to re-register to vote after changing my address. I mentioned that it is URGENT that we vote the "thing" out of office. Ofcourse the 2 employees within earshot were mum because they need to keep their jobs like we all do. ...... Anyway, your post is great news. In my heart I always knew these folks were with us....

take them to the next union meeting. They will go real fast. I've given out about 100 at union meetings.

That's how long it has taken our last few orders.

29. I'd like to distribute some campaign buttons among the delegates but

our state party is clean out. Since were in Waikiki, This would be an opportunity for the Kerry campaign to get exposure in a central location. We got carriers from all over the U.S. They would be in coffee shops and malls wearing their "Kerry" pins which would have a subliminal influence on the thousands of other tourists.

30. Buttons and pins are expensive. Bumper stickers give you

more bang for your buck. The more you buy, the cheaper they are.

Also, get together with your local Meetup, and Democratic party. Precinct walking is essential. It is fun, and it is the best way to spread the word.

The of the ludicrous and shallow reasons I hear around my work of a few of the brain washed fundies supporting the GOP makes me cringe. I would expect them to quit, considering it is Union, and the GOP hates Unions (did I say hypocrite) Many us people that served feel outraged that an AWOL and Serial Draft Dodger are where they are, but the loss of honor (moral bankruptcy) occurred a long time ago..........

A Vietnam Vet on "Supporting the Troops"

I still wonder if I could have done things differently in Vietnam. I wonder if I could have been better at protecting my men. But what I also wonder is how many kids died while I was promoting their need to be in Vietnam? Three long years passed while I was locked into the sad notion that we best supported the troops by being champions of their mission and cheerleaders for their cause. How many more boys were killed from 1970 to 1973? Did I have complicity in their deaths? These questions weigh as heavily today as did memories of the war yesterday.

The rhetoric I hear today sounds like an echo from my painful past. We are being told that we have to 'stay the course.' It's necessary for some Americans to die for Iraqi democracy. The biggest lie of all is that it is unpatriotic to oppose further suffering, further maiming and further death in Iraq.

We now live in a bumper sticker world where the only truths we accept are those simplistic enough to fit on an 18-inch adhesive placard. More and more I seem to be seeing 'Support Our Troops' stickers. That is advice well taken by me and by everyone. Support our troops indeed--bring them home now.
