Clinton defends Berger: 'We were all laughing about it" |
|
Sorry, it's on Drudge: http://www.drudgereport.com/flash2.htmFormer president Bill Clinton defends his embattled national security advisor as a man who "always got things right," even if his desk was a mess.
"We were all laughing about it," Clinton said about the investigation into Sandy Berger for taking classified terrorism documents from the National Archives. "People who don't know him might find it hard to believe. But ... all of us who've been in his office have always found him buried beneath papers."
(snip)
In an interview set for publication Wednesday in the DENVER POST, Clinton questions the timing of the Berger flap less than a week before the Democratic National Convention and two days before a presidential commission is slated to release its final report on the Bush administration's handling of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Clinton tells the POST he has known about the federal probe of Berger's actions for several months, calling the news a "non-story."
"I wish I knew who leaked it. It's interesting timing," he added.

8. Interesting Timing Indeed, Timing That's GOOD FOR KERRY |
|
If this bomb dropped 2 weeks before the election, it might have had an effect. As it is, it's a non story that will make a splash for a few days and will be forgotten by next week in the aftermath of the 9/11 report and the ruckus of the Dem convention...
Was this yet another pre-emption by Kerry?

Justice is all over this like stink on shit, and was all over O'Neill's use of classified documents, but does nothing when Woodward has access to classified documents and does nothing when treason is committed in the Plame case. And another thing, any news about the anthrax killer?

Time to remind Americans what "pRESIDENT" showed a foreign government, and a questionable "ally" at that, its live, top-secret, frickin' WAR PLANS - before they were even shown to his own Secretary of State!!!
On edit: "Sadiesworld" must be a speed demon with a keyboard. Beat me by minutes. Great mind, too. Had the same thought I did!

12. Once again the Big Dog puts things into perspective. "Little" Denny |
|
Hastert was on NPR whining about "a former member of the Clinton Administration pilfering classified intelligence documents". What a crock of Bullshit, Denny and you know it. You didn't seem so concerned when members of the CURRENT administration outed a CIA agent, ruining her career and possibly jeopardizing the lives of U.S. intelligence operatives overseas - all in the name of political retaliation. Yet you would denigrate Sandy Berger, who was attempting to prepare himself to accurately answer the questions of the 911 Commission. Have you no shame at all?

14. Leaked? Leaked a story for political gain? Now WHO would do THAT? |
|
Gosh... only 40 or 50 names come to mind... all of them have an -R after them. I'm glad the Dems are speaking out about this. It was handled a year ago! Hastert and DeLay are scumbag grandstanders. This is unbelievably maddening... WHERE THE FUCK IS THE OUTRAGE ON OUTING A CIA AGENT????? Hellloooo???? That is a treasonous offense! Taking copies of things that are STILL in the record, is sheer sloppiness... I hope this latest political tactic turns off even MORE hard core Republicans. Wait.. Isn't DeLay, himself, being investigated for something? DeLay? Is that French?
