http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/07/21/iraq.main/index.htmlA U.S. soldier was killed by a roadside bomb while on patrol early Wednesday, according to a 1st Infantry Division spokesman, bringing the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq to 901.
The latest death came when the 1st Infantry Division soldier's Bradley fighting vehicle was hit around midnight in the city of Duluiyah, north of Baghdad, Master Sgt. Robert Powell said. The soldier was the fifth U.S. military member to be killed in the past 24 hours.
Six soldiers were wounded: Two were evacuated to a combat support hospital and four wounded were taken to a forward operating base. All are in stable condition, Powell said.
Of the 901 U.S. troops who have died in the Iraq war, 667 died in combat and 234 in non-combat incidents.
On edit at 12:44PM I just heard on local radio WPTT - Pittsburgh that Iraqi police report a US helicopter has been shot down - believe in Northern Iraq - no survivors.
