Tragic and painful. It showed typical travelers, in a hurry, going through security. A blond woman in a suit, a bald man with a computer case, and the terrorists who in a little while would end all their lives.

7. Like a nightmare, I bet

Watching the Columbine footage in MM's film felt like a nightmare. It wasn't horribly graphic or anything, just kinda like you're watching something ethereal going on, and know something horrible is happenening just beyond your grasp and you can do nothing to stop it.

That segment of Bowling for Columbine showed more than anything, IMO, before or since, what a brilliant filmmaker Mr. Moore is.

6. I wonder how confident they were that they'd get through

I mean 19 out of 19 made it through security. How many of them total were actually stopped? I suppose they didn't all need contraband. Had one of them been caught, though, it might have blown the whole operation for them.

You have to believe it was planned perfectly, though, because the one "flawed" attempt - the Pittsburgh plane - which was a man short was the one that failed. The others went off as planned.

The whole thing is just weird and constantly freaks me out.

8. A thing to remember..

.. even if they were scrutinized, and the knives & boxcutters were found, they were allowed to, under the FAA rules at the time, to board the flight, provided that the knife blade were under a certain length (I think it was 2 inches).

So, even by todays standards, they would not have been stopped, as it was perfectly normal, since the FAA allowed it.

CNN noted that the clip was obtained from the lawyer representing 911 families who are suing the airlines.

So, the government NEVER did release this film. Why?

would Frank Lautenberg release the info to WaPo about the bin Laden's and others leaving the country?

Is the 9/11 Commish Report such a Whitewash that folks are having to leak information to try to get another investigation? :shrug:

Previously, all the airport security tapes released showed all the passengers but none of the alleged hijackers. Now after Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11", with public scepticism about 9/11 and Bush's wars rapidly rising, suddenly this turns up. I'd look at real carefully before deciding it's the real McCoy.

You people are ridiculous to think that tightening "security" would make us safer. If terrorists want to strike, do you think they are going to make themselves obvious? The only way to prevent terrorism is to address the underlying issues that prompt it---like the gross and continuing occupation of Palestine, Senator Kerry. Meanwhile, fear mongering about the threat of terrorism only serves to threaten our own freedoms with futher police state approaches and profiling of targeted Arabs and suspect political activists--in other words, progressives.

So, what exactly would make you feel safer? Strip searches?
