Latino Majority Backs Kerry/Edwards In 2004
http://www.cpod.ubc.ca/polls/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewItem&itemID=3494

(CPOD) Jul. 21, 2004 – The Democratic ticket is the top choice for Latino voters in the United States, according to a poll by Interviewing Service of America (ISA) released by the Washington Post, Univision and the Tomás Rivera Policy Institute. 60 per cent of respondents would vote for John Kerry and John Edwards in the 2004 presidential election, while 30 per cent would support Republican incumbents George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.

Independent candidate Ralph Nader and running mate Peter Camejo garner the support of two per cent of respondents. The election is scheduled for Nov. 2.

Hispanics are the fastest-growing minority group in the U.S., and could prove a crucial component of the electorate in swing states such as Florida, New Mexico and Nevada. In the 2000 ballot, 66 per cent of Hispanic voters favoured Democrat Al Gore.

1. Like John Leguizamo said..
Latinos don't vote republican..it would be like roaches voting for Raid.

He was making a joke..that same time when Whoopi cut loose on bush.

But, I'm really glad to see this..and I think the African Americans will by and Large be with us too...I hope!

I saw the President of The Urban League on c-span this morning and boy was he brilliant! He says they're non-partisan and I believe him but he was so awesome when it came to the repuke callers who said things that were just reichwing talking points and he just stood up for African Americans everywhere. And all the Dem callers were so nice and polite..no problem.

2. Hmm
That's a great number, but I'd like to see it higher than 60%.

Doesn't Kerry's wife speak Spanish?

4. I've yet to see any Spanish language ads from them

They should simply have ads where they speak in Spanish for Latino voters.

That's the best way to reach them.

Of course, issues like education, the environment (cleaning up superfund toxic waste sites for example), and healthcare speak to all voters.

5. Kerry/Edwards need more than 60%
There was a Rove memo floating around somewhere that told Bush what percentage of Hispanic voters he needed in 2004, as compared to 2000.

But he only had to increase his totals by several percentage pts.

Therefore, Kerry needs to get more than Gore.

6. How nice that our guys and dolls speak several languages, and
Stump doesn't speak one...but he sure knows how to put people down who are gracious enough to speak French in France. What an embarrassment! The really ugly American.
