Kerry Overtakes Bush in Swing States, Nationwide
http://quote.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000087&sid=aZ2_UktEX_yI&refer=top_world_news

July 22 (Bloomberg) -- Democratic challenger John Kerry this month overtook U.S. President George W. Bush among voters in swing states and nationwide, according to a poll conducted by the Washington-based Pew Research Center.

The four-term senator from Massachusetts leads Bush 47 percent to 41 percent in states where the November election is expected to be closest, the Pew organization said on its Web site without specifying the states. That compares with an 11 percentage-point lead that Bush, 58, held last month.

Nationwide, 46 percent of the 1,568 registered voters questioned by Pew said they would vote for Kerry if the election were held today, compared with 44 percent who said they would pick Bush. The president last month led by 4 points. Kerry's lead falls within the poll's 3 percentage-point margin of error.

Democrats will formally nominate Kerry at their convention next week in Boston. Pew began polling July 8, two days after Kerry announced his choice of North Carolina Senator John Edwards as his vice president. That decision that boosted the Democrats' chance of winning the elections, according to some political analysts.

In 1988 Dukakis was 17 points ahead of Bush I at this point in the race but he blew that one.

28. I think the Willie Horton ad
lost the election for Dukakis. Plus Dukakis was "Gored" by the Repubs and the media.

Now the Repubs are trying to do the same thing to Kerry with the leak to Steno Sue at the Post about Berger.

44. Yeah, let's work even harder now, until we create an unstoppable
united Democratic tidal wave sweeping republicans from office.

They made their beds with their dirty deeds. And those filthy beds will be moving out of Washington in January.

They stole our democracy. Without that, we have nothing.

The most dangerous enemy you can make is one that has nothing left to lose.

didn't Matt Lauer just say this morning that "despite the millions and millions of dollars that Kerry has spent on advertising, his campaign just hasn't been able to take off" (paraphrasing) and, of course, Little Timmy Russert, to whom Matt was speaking, said nothing to correct that statement.

So I'm sure the polls you refer to must be wrong! :eyes:

edited to add that yes, I did check to make sure I wasn't watching Faux!

7. Of course he doesn't mention the fact
that despite being an INCUMBENT President and despite millions more than Kerry spent in ads almost all of which are Kerry bashing and despite having many of his cronies bash Kerry on the airwaves, Bush can't pass Kerry in the polls and at the very best is even. Ahhh, but we wouldn't want to mention that little detail would we?

23. The pundits won't state that Kerry has been ahead for months, so
there was little to gain. HOWEVER, the current polls are all LIKELY voters which eliminates all the new voters who registered to vote against Bush.

They know it. They just want to keep up the illusion that it will be close, so Bush can get away with whatever tricks they have planned to steal the vote.

The actual stats are probably closer to 53%-44%.

36. I think anyone who is interviewed by Lauer or any of these
tv talking heads on ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, faux, et al, should ask the person conducting the interview "Do you own Haliburton stock?" and then just sit there. That sure will make them stumble, if but for a few seconds (which for them is forever). Wish we could find out which one of these nasty idiots own an interest in the corps that are growing richer at our expense. We need to investigate the journalist and give them a taste of their own medicine. Only we will use the facts and not the WH slime and lies.

31. Interesting numbers in here
Bush - Kerry

No college - 42 - 46
College - 48 - 43
Money worries - 26 - 59
No worries 68 - 26
Union 32 - 57
VETS 45 - 45
Internet 47 - 44
Talk election 40 - 54
Don't talk 44 - 40

And Kerry is ahead in every geographic location except rural voters and it just doesn't seem likely to me that there's enough rural voters to swing this for Bush.

about how badly things were in Iraq and Smirky's numbers below 50.

Repuke says..."We are thrilled that Bush is neck and neck with Kerry after all the liberal pounding he has had to endure this summer."

I laughed out loud. I guess one movie by Moore is "pounding" compared to 24 hours a day radio pounding by Hate Radio and Millions of dollars in attack ads by Stupidhead.

Desperate as all hell. Love it!

22. Barring theft, there is NO WAY Kerry can lose
It's very simple. I challenge all to find ONE person who voted for Gore who will vote for Bush in 2004.

Now, find Bush 2000 voters who will vote for Kerry. At least 2 in 10 are not voting for Bush, and I'll bet this number goes up to 3 in 10 after the convention.

This is going to be an epic landslide.

Even though i find the news to be fantastic there is still 3 months for Bush/Rove/Cheny/GOP slime to pull out every dirty trick in the book to win. They will pull some kind of October surprise, try to get people not to vote, bar people from voting, and god knows what else from those dirty tricksters. We must be on our guard and and kick butt and give back whatever they throw at us..and NOT be relaxed till that fraud and his buddies are out of the white house!
But still I do share your joy and agree with you %100 newsmeat!

27. Great news but ...
I fear that this election is going to be won by a razor-thin margin, and the Chimp will pull every dirty trick in the book. We can't afford to rest for even a moment - always assume that Kerry is the underdog and we must work twice as hard as our opponents to win! Keep giving money, get your friends and colleages who may support Kerry to register to vote, put up yard signs and bumper stickers and talk up Kerry & Edwards wherever you can!

It has to be. I'm looking at the electoral map compared to the weekend the movie opened, and there's a huge difference. Why? The Shrub is his same stupid self--he hasn't had any gaffes that much worse than usual the last 4 weeks.

So I attribute the turnaround to the movie. I hope it plays forever!

That's good and bad. Good that'll it'll still be shown but after four months you'd think the box office run should be over and many folks are waiting for the DVD/video anyway.

I say get this thing on video/rental in September.

Honestly, I think, though, MM is sandbagging he's saying that it won't go video untill after the election to draw people into the theater then when the market is right they'll actually go video well before the election.
