'Fahrenheit 9/11' Puts GOP On Edge
Republicans initially dismissed "Fahrenheit 9/11" as a cinematic screed that would play mostly to inveterate Bush bashers. Four weeks and $94 million later, the film is still pulling in moviegoers at 2,000 theaters around the country, making Republicans nervous as it settles into the American mainstream.

"I'm not sure if it moves voters," GOP consultant Scott Reed said, "but if it moves 3 or 4 percent it's been a success."

Two senior Republicans closely tied to the White House said the movie from director Michael Moore is seen as a political headache because it has reached beyond the Democratic base. Independents and GOP-leaning voters are likely to be found sitting beside those set to revel in its depiction of a clueless president with questionable ties to the oil industry.

Shouldn't this title be: 'Truth Puts GOP On Edge'!

Something I heard on Franken today. Al basically said he's not afraid of anyone or anything because he's just broadcasting the truth! That's the same way I feel about it. There's nothing to hide and your strength is from the Earth when you tell the truth.

The only question I have is why has it taken 12 years for an honest person to be broadcast in America? There isn't a person in America who could debate Franken and his fact checkers! Except maybe Michael and his team!

1. Franken must be putting the GOP on edge as well - his influence
is spreading.

Franken is fact-based and maintains a calm demeanor when taking people from the 'other side' apart (like Stossel, Mark the ditto head and the Good Ribbin' volunteers). Although Katherine has to reel him in once in a while, for the most part, Franken is proving to be a great role model.

Today a 15 yr old called in to his show - how great is that for young kids to hear reasoned and fact-based discussion? No ambushing or yelling necessary.

2. F9/11 was unexpected...
Dr. StrangeRove has finally run into something he doesn't have a prescription for. This is absolutely dee-lishus. I really hope this is a fact and not some liberal journalists wet dream, because people really need to see the movie and judge for themselves if it's true.

Regarding Al Franken, I bought an XM radio just so I could listen to his show. We don't have a local AAR affiliate, so that was the only way to get it in my car. It has been SO worth it. Al is way funnier than the Ditto-zombies wish Limbaugh were.

Even more important, Al loves the whole, unvarnished, unfiltered, and unsanitized truth. He delights in taping and replaying the lies of the neocon talking heads on FOXNEWS!!, and he'll call out any liar...even when they're Democrats.

If you aren't listening to Al and Air America Radio, you are truly missing out.

3. Good points....welcome aboard!

I can tell you that I didn't find out anything in the movie that I didn't already know.....because we've been discussing the BFEE for 3.5 years straight now here at DU. :-)

As far as why it's taken 14 years....I think it's because Democrats got pretty complacent, particularly chasing the stock market and took our eye off the prize.

The beauty thing is, we've found our media voice on the Internet....I doubt that Democratic/Progressive/Liberal politics will never be the same...

5. Welcome to DU
I am streaming Mike Webb, Bernie Ward, and Thom Hartmann all at the same time right now. I can toggle between them whenever commercials come on. Webb just had Scott Ritter on live.

Your welcome....yeah, the wee one is still coughing and congested...she's asleep right now next to Dad in bed and I keep hearing her on the monitor, so I might have to stop DUing and go care for her instead of Dad, but she's always all smiles no matter what...

Hey, I'm going to email you a picture right now....

8. Except Franken should be aired in every market in America or at least
as many as Limbutt. So why is such a 'money making advertising outlet' not broadcasting in all markets? Hey this is American Capitalism, these guys are supposed to be so sharp they can see a demand and pounce on it before any competitor knows what happened! So why hasn't it happened?

10. Bush Is Out
He took our kids, rode them hard, and tried to put them up wet. But his little "girls" are just like him. Let someone else do the paying while they take the profit.
