National Guard calls Appeals Court judge to active duty Appeals Court judge called to active duty with Mississippi Guard

JACKSON - Mississippi Court of Appeals Judge Leslie H. Southwick will take a leave of absence from the court on Aug. 9 to join his National Guard unit as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Southwick, 54, is a major with the 155th Separate Armored Brigade. He is one of six lawyers who serve in the office of Staff Judge Advocate for the Army National Guard unit.
The nearly 4,000 soldiers of the 155th got their call-up orders in June.

Gov. Haley Barbour has not made appointments to the Appeals Court to fill the vacancies.
