Van Rams Tank (curious choice of headline)
Edited on Fri Jul-23-04 11:56 AM by plan9_pub
http://www.startribune.com/stories/1762/4890828.html

A van carrying Iraqi civilians collided with a U.S. tank near Baghdad, killing nine people and injuring 10, the U.S. military said today.

The accident occurred about 10 p.m. Thursday when the van was trying to pass another vehicle and collided with the tank, said Spc. Justin McCue, a press official of the U.S.-led military coalition, adding that there were no U.S. or coalition casualties.

Iraqis gave a slightly different account of the crash.

Iraqi police Capt. Adnan Salih said nine people were killed and 18 injured when the tank collided with the vehicle in Tarmiyah, 30 miles north of Baghdad.

All the other AP and Reuters versions of this story on the web have a more neutral headline, such as:

Nine killed in Iraq tank crash
Iraqis killed after hitting US tank
Iraqi Van, US Tank Crash, Killing Nine
US tank crashes with van, kills nine Iraqi wedding guests

Perhaps people should drop a line to the Star Tribune and ask them why they are using a false headline. "Ram" denotes a willful act.

Edit:

If you want to inquire about this, drop a line to:

2. Yeah,
when the final report comes out on the accident, the Army will claim they found yellow cake uranium in the baby's diaper.
