Kerry gets personal on the trail
<The Army Air Corps sent test pilot Richard Kerry to the mountain air to recover from tuberculosis; mother Rosemary gave birth to John in a military hospital on Dec. 11, 1943.

His father's military service ''helped me understand at an early age that we're all put on this Earth for something that is greater than ourselves,'' the Massachusetts senator said. ''And that's something that my mother also taught me.''

Kerry cited his late parents' work in volunteerism in touting his own volunteer programs, including a program offering college tuition in exchange for public service.

Kerry, who toured Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in the Denver suburb of
Aurora, joked about his version of the log cabin.

''Guess which wing of the hospital the maternity ward was in?'' Kerry said. ''I'm not making this up, I promise: I - was born - in the West Wing.''>

1. This is..........
exactly the type of campaigning Kerry needs to be doing right now. He has to let the Undecided voters see who he is, where he came from and his vision for the future of our country.

Contrast this with Bush's "humble beginnings" of Kennebunkport, Andover etc. then let the public decide who resonates more closely with their lives and their values.

Two thumbs up for this tack from the Kerry campaign. It'll put Bush to shame.

3. exactly!
focus on the man, his ideals and his own personal history... and just let W try to counter with his own 'wholesome' life spin.

2. Interesting article. Sounds like Kerry & company put more thought
into what they're doing, and are simply more complex, more organized, more civilized people.

It really does help when Kerry speaks about his life. It goes a distance to make him sound more complete when we know more about him.

Great photo of the two top Democrats. They sure look a lot more refined and decent than the crap the GOP/neoCons have been pushing as their best guesses for President & VP.

4. I felt the same way when I heard Theresa and John in Boston.
Especially when Theresa started talking about her protesting against apartheid in South Africa in the 60's. In the crowd of 5000, you could have heard a pin drop. They both exude such strength and courage and depth when they talk from their soul about the roots of their values and ideals. Thanks for the post.
