Wolfowitz talks to 800 airmen, soldiers at McChord base
By MELANTHIA MITCHELL THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
McCHORD AIR FORCE BASE -- Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz said Friday that he expects an increase in Iraqi fighting power but could offer no timeline on when American troops will be allowed to come home.
"It's taking a long time to start building Iraqi forces," Wolfowitz said. "Our goal is that Iraqis should be on the front lines. We'd like to get ourselves out of the cities and in the background."
Wolfowitz said that once Iraq starts to get on its feet, it is going to be one of the greatest countries in the world. He cited the high educational level of many of its citizens, declaring that once there is peace and stability, the country has the capacity to double its productivity.
<snip>
He spoke for about 30 minutes, then took questions from the audience. When asked about the possibility of reinstating the draft, Wolfowitz said, "No, absolutely not. We have an incredible force that works spectacularly because it is a voluntary force."
He did note, however, that more attention needs to be paid to re-enlistment numbers, although each service seems to be meeting its goals.

2. OK, that's it (throwing down napkin) |

I'm now absolutely convinced that Paul Wolfowitz has some serious delusions. I'm not being sarcastic here. When he says stuff like, "it's going to be one of the greatest countries in the world", I really start to wonder.
What makes him say that? What exactly does he mean when he says that? Will it be one of the greatest countries for the Iraqis? When they've made it clear they will continue to die for their country until the occupiers leave.
Or does he mean for the oil companies? Or maybe for the largest US Embassy in the world, with 3,000 employees? Headed by death squad henchman Dimitri Negroponte.
Keep in mind that Wolfowitz said, "the children will be singing songs about us for centuries to come". And, "now do they (the Iraqis) believe we're not after their oil?".
Quote after quote like this tells me that he's living in a world of fantasy, of happy wonderful dreams. Even in spite of the bomb attack which almost blasted his ass to Kingdom Come last year. Fool.

It's real "deja vu all over again," and just like getting slugged seeing them. The images are that powerfully sad and sorrowful.
What a stage for the country to enter. It shows we are rudderless, and unguided, following only the lowest and worst impulses. So typically Republican.
We actually DO need continual reminders of where we are as a group, country, world. We've got to get out of this place (if it's the last thing we ever do).

Old Mikey is currently advocating for war on Iran. Perle remains in seclusion or something, ironically in the south of France, right?

3. Interesting, odd article on a very odd man. |
|
Wolfowitz seems to live in his own little world, doesn't he? He doesn't seem to realize how savage and wrong this war has been.

9. I hear from some of the troops on the ground in Iraq |
|
that they consider Wolfowitz, Rummy, and all the other assholes in the Bush administration to be a bunch of "P*ssies," as the guys on the ground call them, and Bush is the biggest limpdick chickenhawk of them all. Wolfowitz needs to be thrown into a room filled with a bunch of mothers of the soldiers he helped send over to that fraudulent war. Just leave us alone with him for 10 minutes. He would come out a changed man.

13. Did he tell them it is their mission to bring freedom |
|
to every single person in the world? "We're a nation with a mission, and that mission comes from our most basic beliefs. We believe that freedom is the right of every single person in the world. By the unselfish dedication of Americans in uniform, people in our own country and in lands far away, people can live in freedom and know the peace that freedom brings." http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/02/20040217-5.html

insanity too? Wolfie's finished, except for think-tank duty with the neo-cons for the rest of his life. Happily, he can rot there, because no one will ever trust him again, thank all gods.

Can just anyone present these commendations? Aren't generals or some military person or commander in chief supposed to do that?
