Aljazeera 'outraged' at Iraq criticism
http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/A3BF4F15-97CC-4B0B-BAFE-55A1CB3D859F.htm

<snip>
Aljazeera has expressed outrage after the Iraqi foreign minister attacked its coverage of events in Iraq and said he was considering closing down the channel's Baghdad bureau.

Hoshyar Zibari accused Aljazeera, along with other Arabic language satellite channels, of "incitement" and hiding behind media freedoms.

Zibari said the channel's coverage of Iraq was "one-sided" and "distorted".

<snip>
"They have all become incitement channels which are against the interests of security, the Iraqi government and the Iraqi people," Zibari said.

....unlike the US media... :eyes:

1. So our Iraqi puppets want to shut down Al Jazeera?
Remember what happened when Bremer closed down the newspaper he didn't like? I think the Iraqis around the country will be pissed off if their new satellite dishes suddenly go blank to dissenting opinion. They know what propaganda is, they lived under a dictatorship before.

2. Al Jazeera is mild compared to FAUX, CNN, and MSNBC
I read Al Jazeera almost daily just to get a comparison. Not that bad.

3. Even "mild" criticism is considered to be inflammatory to *co and
their assorted puppets. So much for democracy in Iraq.... not that the US knows how to install one anyway.

4. It's no more than what the US does. Shut down the truth. AJ is the only
source that gives all sides of what is going on inside Iraq just as much as FOX does.

8. They shouldn't take it seriously
An attack from Iraq's interim government is an attack from the Bush administration.
