Labor Groups Calls for Return of (Enron) Campaign Money

PORTLAND, OR 2004-07-26 (OPB Radio) - Vice President Dick Cheney visits Portland tonight for a fundraiser to benefit Republican candidates for Congress.

In advance of the event, Democrats and labor groups are criticizing the Vice President's past association with former Enron CEO Ken Lay. Employees of Portland General Electric lost most of their retirement funds when the energy giant went bankrupt.

At a press conference in Portland, Congressman Peter DeFazio demanded the Bush-Cheney campaign return campaign contributions from Lay and Enron dating back to 1993. ...

DeFasio is proposing that the campiagn contributions go into a fund for those who were fleeced by Enron. Shouldn't then ALL recipients of Enron money do the same (which would include several dems as well). For that matter, wouldn't other companies who "pulled an Enron" be in the same boat? This just seems like one of those issues that would devolve into a mud-fight, where everyone gets muddy and the only result is to turn voters away from the whole process.

He's asking mr. go f-ck yourself to deny the well know connection between Texas oil and gas interests and the rape of Oregon utilities.
